Primetime in TV programming refers to the block of hours during the evening after work with the largest viewing audiences. These can be from 7:00 to 11:00pm, depending on the regional time zone. In radio, primetime hours are called Drivetime. These are from 5:00 to 10;00am and from 3:00 – 7:00pm, referring to the hours when most people listen to the radio while driving to and from work.
Shows programmed during Primetime hours have the highest advertising rates and their viewerships are closely monitored using the Nielsen ratings system.
