Motion Graphics is the term used to refer to animations that enhance live footage (i.e: animated text/logos/captions/graphs/maps etc…) The line between motion graphics and other types of animations can be blurry. They are often used in commercials, documentaries, opening titles etc… and are usually employed to give factual information to the audience in a visual and dynamic fashion.
Adobe After Effects and Cinema4D are amongst the most popular motion graphics software.

The documentary “Valley Uprising” uses motion graphics to add depth and motion to archival photographs. The captions and logos in this trailer can also be considered “motion graphics.”
