About Me
Growing up and being raised in Guyana wasn’t simple; it was difficult for me to pursue any of my aspirations; growing up in the countryside was difficult; and starting work at the age of 13 was much more difficult. However, I must state that moving to the United States five years ago was not a mistake. This, I must say, is the Land of Opportunity.
This country has given me a life and helped me get back on my feet, allowing me to see all my aspirations come true till now. When I was applying to universities, I had a hard time getting my GED, but I never gave up after the third time I was able to acquire it and had gone to BMCC.
BMCC is a fantastic community college that seems like a second home. I must say that joining the CUNY Start program has opened a whole new universe of information, wisdom, and power to me!
“Knowledge is power!” it declares. The BMCC CUNY Start program has aided me in working out how to prepare for the future, and I believe that was a solid foundation for me to build on. The CUNY Start program has taught me a lot about college and what it’s like to live on campus. This program has allowed me to meet new students from all around the world who I was previously unaware of or unaware existed.
The BMCC CUNY start program has allowed me to take full advantage of all the different resources that were available to me. Words are insufficient to express how much BMCC has played an important role in my life. Looking back at where I started, I must say that it was not a regret that BMCC provided me with the opportunity to advance and excel in my education.
I must add that I made it to the Dean’s List every semester, and I was one of the graduating students who received an award from the 2022 Honors Convocation ceremony. I am a proud ASAP student that has been recognized by them and has earned my stole, pins, and certificate. In addition, I earned three certificates from the Urban Male Leadership Academy, as well as an award from the Student Government Association for all my hard work, which I was one of the senators and the Chairperson of Public Relations and Club Activities. I am a proud member of the National Society Leadership Society, as well as a member of the executive board, and a mentor for the IMPACT program. I must add that dreams do come true, but only when they are pursued with determination and optimism. You can do everything you set your mind to in life if you put your mind to it. Quoted,” Where there is hope there is opportunities!” Don’t give up! Dreams do come true!
My major at BMCC was Accounting and now I must say that I will be graduating. Class of 2022! I will now be pursuing my bachelor’s degree at York University in Queens to live to see all my dreams come true. Big thank you to BMCC with love. Start Here! Go Anywhere!
