NourishNYC Launches Party Series to Help New Yorkers Pay Rent &
Support Local Community Organizations

New York, NY: Today, NourishNYC, a Harlem-based grassroots 501(c)3 community organization dedicated to building and practicing a holistic approach to community care, announced that they are launching a series of parties beginning on May 26, 2023, to fundraise for New Yorkers and local community organizations that are struggling to keep up with the ever-rising cost of living.

The first event for the “Fire, Fire, Gentrifier” party series will be a party in Bushwick on May 26, 2023, from 9p-1a. Tickets are available on NourishNYC’s website and range from $5-30. Snacks and refreshments will be available.

When asked about the inspiration behind the parties, NourishNYC Founder & Director Tania Maree Giordani said, “As inflation continues to rise, and the housing crisis grows larger, we’ve seen the need for assistance for basic necessities explode. Recently, a friend shared that their neighbor disclosed that they are experiencing homelessness and would like help raising money so that they can secure a stable home and get back on their feet. Over the last year, I’ve seen countless small organizations, including our own, and community fridge groups struggle to fundraise. This has forced many of us to close essential programs temporarily, and for others to shut down their operations permanently. Inspired by the 1920s Harlem rent parties – we decided to start this series to help all of us fundraise and connect with each other.”

About NourishNYC: NourishNYC is a Harlem-based community organization dedicated to building and practicing a holistic approach to community care by centering the needs of Black Queer and Trans New Yorkers. Spirit of Children reaches $200 Million in Donations for Child Life programs across North America

Spirit of Children has reached new heights beating our record goal in 2022 of $18 million with $25 million in 2023.

When you donate at check out at any Spirit Halloween locations our store associates ring a purple cow bell and really make it a special moment. Guest also take photos or videos of ringing in the moment accompanied with hashtags #SpiritOfChildren or #MoreCowbell. “Our associates are the backbone of the impactful Spirit of Children efforts that have helped so many children and their families at our partner hospitals. Without their commitment to sharing our mission with guests, our vendors, and licensing partners, this milestone would not be possible,” said Steven Silverstein, CEO of Spirit Halloween.

“We remain committed to supporting Child Life Departments and the critical work they do to make hospitals less scary for kids and their families.” All of our proceeds go directly and 100% to our partner hospitals. •Child Life Positions: Over 200 Child Life staff have been added through Spirit of Children funding while also providing extended hours for Child Life services

•Establishing Therapy Programs: Partner hospitals have been able to establish nearly seventy therapy programs, which include sensory and educational equipment, as well as adaptive toys and medical teaching dolls

•Letting Kids be Kids: Donations support a range of activities for children and their families including art, music, canine, and horticulture therapy programs

BMCC celebrates its “Achievers.”

Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) is pleased to announce the upcoming event “Achievers,” a conference call, a dinner, and an award ceremony to recognize the academic achievement of its high-achieving students who have obtained a perfect 4.0 grade point average. The event demonstrates BMCC’s dedication to recognizing and supporting its students’ skills as well as promoting an exceptional learning culture. For this conference, BMCC hopes to commemorate these exceptional students’ academic achievements, give a forum for them to discuss their experiences, and inspire others to aspire for academic greatness through this conference call. Pigeon Forge, T.N. – Dollywood® will unveil its longest, largest family-friendly multi-launch rollercoaster new for the 2023 season. With an investment of over $25 million, it is part of the biggest expansion in the park’s 62-year history. Guests of all ages have even more to discover at Wildwood Grove, as they continue their travels in search of the mysterious Big Bear, a black bear who wanders Wildwood Grove but has never been seen. As a resident and wilderness explorer of Wildwood Grove and having hidden knowledge of this area, Mr. Ned Oakley has made it his mission to assist travelers whom have the same curiosity as him in finding the legend that is Big Bear. He has set up the Adventure Outpost Base Camp, where he welcomes others to join him in his four-wheel drive SUV as they make the journey to the Grove’s Hidden Hollow.

Built by Dutch manufacturer Vekoma, Dollywood’s tenth rollercoaster provides completion to a margin of the Wildwood Grove section which debuted in 2019. The coaster measures at a whooping length of 3,990 feet over a span of 6 acres of land, as well as being the first audio coaster to be built at Dollywood, relaying musical beats and announcements from our friendly neighbor Ned Oakley. It will feature ten vehicle-styled cars per train with two seats across a single row, allowing for 20 guests per train. Riders will get the thrill of a lifetime as they accelerate at speeds of up to 48 miles per hour in 1.04 seconds.

Expect a surprise as riders are immediately catapulted into a twisted frenzy of huge steel track. They will then race horizonally before soaring through hair-raising 90 degree overbends and s-curves with views of the hillside terrain, all while the voice of Ned Oakley leads the way. Hold on tight while dashing full throttle into a dark tunnel and over the sparkling waterfall. After navigating through more scream-inducing bends, riders will be lifted out of their seats in the sky as they descend down 66 feet (6 stories) through the Tennessean smoky gorge. Nearing the end of their wild, crazy excursion with more airtime-fueled twists and turns, do they make it back to the station unscathed. Will any of them be lucky enough to find Big Bear?

Food for the Poor Launches ‘One Meal a Day’ Campaign across the Caribbean to Combat Hunger

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the world’s largest charitable foundation, founded in 2000 by former Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates and his wife Melinda. Its main goal is to challenge disease and poverty in the world, but especially in the U.S., the foundation works to provide education and access to information technology. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, the organization is led by three co-chairs, Bill Gates, Melinda Gates, and Bill Gates, Sr.

Since its founding in 2000, the Gates Foundation has been committed to the belief that ALL LIVES HAVE EQUAL VALUE, and has been helping all people lead healthy and prosperous lives. The three specific activities are as follows

International Development Program
The International Development Program aims to give people in developing countries the opportunity to overcome hunger and poverty. Together with its partner agencies, the program focuses on sustainable, high-impact assistance for more people, such as agricultural development, financial services for the poor, and support for water and sanitation. It also provides policy advocacy support to promote the eradication of severe poverty around the world.

Global Health Program
The Global Health Program aims to provide innovative support for major diseases in developing countries through the use of scientific and technological advances. The program emphasizes detection, dissemination, and policy advocacy, and aims to improve infectious diseases and family health, particularly through the establishment and dissemination of vaccines, medicines, and diagnostic procedures.

U.S. Program
The U.S. Program works with partner agencies to provide all U.S. citizens with opportunities for post-secondary and higher education, including a variety of support related to higher education, the dissemination of personal computers and the Internet through libraries, and assistance to the poor in the Pacific Northwest. It also conducts advocacy to raise public opinion and provide input into policy.
