The Joneses

The Joneses

  1. With the Joneses not being a family of not selling their products in person, it’s very much personal selling from my point of view and the reason why I agree is because they were personal selling and actively engaging but also building their relationship with the neighbors. With the film illustrating the family’s perfect life and selling products is very much a way of undercover marketing which is what they have established with their way of personal selling.
  2. Seeing what the joneses have done to market their products, it’s the ideal way of doing marketing that has made their business efficient yet so confidential is something all businesses do today. Using my uncle who is a restaurant owner, the way he markets his restaurant is by marketing it on social media, showing the decor, beautiful art, luxurial furniture, well mannered waiters, establishing the food to the customers before agreeing upon it and making sure the experience is one to remember for them to come back, these are considered a well constructed marketing plan but as for the joneses bring a perfect lifestyle is someting the media does to gain followers and target their audiences and it can be said that its the same ideology the family uses to bring their buyers.
  3. Practically No, in the film the joneses didn’t use the essential marketing practices, not using the ideal way of ethical marketing and mostly selling in order to get buyers was not very inaccuracy due to them not being general with their products but also just wanting to make a profit is not always a great proposal in marketing because of all the schemes that can go wrong if not managed correctly.
  4. I wouldn’t want to be associated with people like the joneses because of one reason, poor judgement in managing in marketing, they might live a life where their riches are a persons desire to be them, but it won’t be a right decision in the business segment in dealing with products and services. To give my overall view on the joneses, I would find them as schemers that just want your money and are just unethical of their way of business.

I had really enjoyed this assignment, and I have really taken away some key pointers from this movie.

Product Concepts

In the world of business, Product concepts play a huge part. The product concept is viewed in this order product, price, place and promotion, but to fully go into depth of product concepts is to give an example of a real product and it’s concept being brought to million dollar business investors known as the sharks of Shark Tank and giving there view whether to invest in these new entrepreneurs or let them go.

Picking a pitch from the show, I decided to pick the first pitch called ” Honey Bunchies” and what caught my attention with this product was what it stood for and how it came to be and being a healthy person myself, I couldn’t resist but think about how much protein it contains. Krenda Bennett who is from Colorado introduces the healthy bar “Honey Bunchies” where she tells the story to the sharks about how her mother inspired her father to creating a sweet healthy bar in which started the business in 2010 and then retailing in 2013, with producing having the only ingredients of nuts and pure honey that consumers can enjoy.

Seeing the packaging of this product brings the colors that a child can be attracted to with a friendly bee character representing the bar, the purpose of this product was to fill there bar with nutrients and a healthy source of energy to bring to all ages, futhermore, during the segment the sharks really did enjoy her product. The process of kendra’s business is well established with marketing and advertising, but with it comes a challenging investment for the sharks.

During the discussion with kendra and the sharks, with sales being $300,000 to $520,000, what she was proposing to the sharks was that she was projecting a plan of sales being $2.2 to $4.2 million dollars which was a large jump for the sharks and her five reasons that she had estabish was not enough for the sharks to do a business deal. The reason why kendra couldn’t manage a deal with the sharks was that she was estimating that her business was going to profit because of the nationwide distributors she was going to partner with but the problem was that there were no guarantees the partnership was going to happen, with healthy food snacks being very competitive in the market and so the sharks couldn’t take a risk with a product that was good in taste but wouldn’t profit as fast as it would.

From what I have learned from this unit, I think in kendra’s case, she should have managed to start small and then grow her business through advertising in small local stores in her hometown and then promote her healthy bars online to give a wide perpective in branding which I believe was done well but could be better.

Restaurants in Utah

Utah being a great place to live from seeing great views of open landscapes, rocky mountains to it’s ever changing climate, I will be providing information on the great Salt Lake City in Utah and the restaurant chain business on how they provide service to their consumers and decide on decision making.

To go into depth in Salt Lake City’s restaurant chain is to recognize how the state cultural public eats and to consider the many different varieties of this magnificent metropolitan area, having done research on the city it is well populated and one that is visited by tourist’s and for many restaurants is to capture the attention of hungry consumers traveling in wanting to get a bite on the road and so to emphasize the menu in this state is the many fast foods from burgers, oven bake pizzas, grilled steaks, corn, ice cream, coffee and mormon crusines are what mostly make up the states best categories and to give my option, this kind of menu really does appeal to me as a consumer.

Now to view a consumers idea of dining inside or take out, there are many alternatives and from this point of view it’s kind of easy perceived that many of Salt Lake residents would dine in restaurants, but having still done my critical research there is a difference between the two because for most tourist visiting the city to families or friends wanting to relax happens to be exploring the deserted area and prefer the many restaurant chains than ordering take out but for many residents who are dorming in universities are more take out folks than dining in restaurants and this remains true near campuses located on google maps to the busy restaurants taking their orders, as a fact college students are more likely to be studying and buying food near campus than traveling due to busy scheduling but with no doubt going to Utah is a must see travel destination.

Moving forward with now Decision making is key to bringing Salt Lake City to life but it’s most businesses compete with each other whether it’s who has the best grilled steak to the best crusines are always competitive during the great out doors and so this is where they draw attraction to customers and it’s a great way for decision making, but with it comes drastic evaluation of pricing in diners if the consumer is looking for fancy or normal dining and its considered in the western state but no matter the pricing of the dinner plate, the consumer with out a doubt will enjoy a great meal.

To conclude my research in Salt Lake City Utah, is to recap on consumer decision making and it sights that a great place like Utah brings light and tourist to explore the desert / snow attraction and seeing the many dining destination it inhabits from the many different foods, the alternative dining or take outs and the evaluation of pricing in food from either fancy or normal is what makes this city of Utah worth seeing and exploring in the future.

    The Ethics of Whole Foods

Considering that America wants to be more healthy in the way they eat is where Whole Foods comes into mind, thats what founder John Mackey wanted to do for a living is bring more healthy options for people and so Whole Foods was born. Thinking about how he wanted to expand his stores to a length of social responsibility and Ethics to his business, he had to bring marketers to help him reach that goal and show what the supermarket chain can bring to it’s consumers.

To get an over view of what Whole Foods wants to bring to its consumers is a great ethics principle, to start off there core is to sell the highest quality natural and organic foods, when entering the store they want to entrige there consumers to find the healthy options they want in finding vibrant stacks of produce, animal welfare rated meat and body care products with ingredents you can trust. To satisfy and delight their customers is by creating a work place that surely brings a welcoming shopping experience and it’s through this where they the employeers deliver understanding customer service through knowledge, skill, enthusiasm and operational excellence.

Now with great service comes Ethics in the job in Whole Foods and so there core is to promote team member growth and happiness which can bring collective energy, intellegence and contributions to all of it’s team members. They have designed and provide a safe and empowering environment where highly motivated people can reach their highest potential. Striving to build a positive and healthy relationship with their employers from being earned through transparent communications by recognizing the good work that team members should do every day.

We know as customers that when we walk into a store like Whole Foods, we expect everything we want to be there, this is where the business wants to provide the best for it’s consumers with many variety to pick from and the most additional helped asked for and their policy provides these services, it’s where they value the importance of fun, family and their involvement to encourage a rich, meaningful and balanced life.

Many may wonder, with a place called Whole Foods, where do they get their fresh produce? Well, being such a large distributor of healthy foods has come from an interdependent business ecosystem where there are 10,000 of suppliers that the business depends on to create an outstanding retail shopping experience for it’s customers, from reviewing trade partners to shareholders is how the business transactions are held.

In today’s world of large corps also comes large greenhouse gases that pollute the air and harms our crops and destroys our environment but considering what Whole Foods stands for is to not stop using admissions by the year 2030 in which standing by this commitment with the U.S. soon going towards more electrical for farms and the environment.

To conclude what Whole Foods stands for is to bring its products to its consumers to ensure their getting the best produce and bring more innovation to it’s stores, these are the ethics and soical responisbitys of Whole Foods.
