Activity 7  [OPTIONAL FOR SPRING 2026}

Please view this video lecture on “The Necklace.” I am going to expand it to include “The Story of an Hour” and “The Wife”; however, for now, The lecture on the Chopin Story and the poem must be read from the transcript.

Activity 8

Read the contemporary short story “How I Fell in Love with Richard Nixon” by Stanley Hoffman. The story contains guided reading questions and highlighted sections. It is the basis of your second essay assignment.

This is a 10-question multiple-choice quiz on figurative language devices.  The test is timed, and students have 90 minutes to complete it. Test will be available from 9:00 on Monday, February 23 through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 1. Test will not be reopened after the closing date.
