The best practices for working with families who have infants from the reading in this module understanding the meaning of supporting families especially first time families in a child care setting. Supporting families may be challenging because many parents will be new to child care and families may feel guilty about leaving their child in a care setting.
    Showing empathy make families feel understood, valued and cared. Imagining how they are feeling. Acknowledge that they are the parents and thanking them for what have they been doing when it comes to supporting the development of their child or anything that has been important (Gillespie ,2006).

The best practices for working with families who have infants from the reading in this module (Gillespie ,2006) is asking questions to get additional information , wondering aloud which encourages an attitude of genuine interest and curiosity , active listening which shows you are giving undivided attention when someone seeks out a conversation with you, showing empathy , building trust and focusing on things that are going well, as well as using “not knowing” as a self calming strategy which allows you time in considering how to respond.

These really help us to understanding how supportive we have to be with parents. And we also learned about challenging that we might face and how calm we have to remain and try to create strong relationship. We learned about easy way to take moments and respond and the benefits that comes with it, also about active learning, we learned about empathy, point out the positive. We learned how to deal with parents who have differences and how to handle conflicts.

  4. The best practices for working with families from module 15(Gillespie, 2006) are to remain as trusting as possible and to keep communication open. Some parents feel guilty about leaving their children. When caretakers do this, it gives the families a sense of relief.
