The best practices in this module are to develop an understanding relationship with the parents/family members of the children in care. Gain information regarding culture and certain practices at home that may assist in caring for that child in school. Understand in context that the child and parents views and needs may appear different than your own. Be open and accept the child and parent and their differences. Teach new skills without removing what they have learned from home.
