At the end of the semester you will help to determine your grade for ECE 209 based on your Self-Assessment of what you have learned. In preparation for your Self-Assessment, answer the questions below; you will answer these questions at the end of each module so you have a record of what you have learned over the semester. You can answer the questions here on Open Lab or create a journal on Blackboard (which would be private).
- What did you learn in this week’s modules for ECE 209-Lecture and Seminar?
- Information/ knowledge
- Skills
- Insights (connections you made or “ah-ha’s” you had about the material)
- How will the material from these modules better prepare you to work with infants?
This week i learned a lot about cultural identity . I found this information very useful not just with teaching but in everyday life. We sometimes can be insensitive to others because they are different from us. We also sometimes forget that everyone’s background isn’t the same so we should learn and ask questions before we judge.
1)For this week module I learned that attachment is a huge part in the development of infant life. Also there has been a test called “Strange Situation Video” which shows how differently infants act base on their attachments. This material from this module will prepare be to work infants because it gave some examples on how to create bonds.
This week on Module 4, I learned about the Attachment Theory and how important it is for parents to be able to meet theirs babies’ needs. Unfortunately, some parents struggle in the role of being a parent and the way they treat their babies affect the babies’ behavior and personal development. In a addition, after watching the video “How babies form attachments”, I had an insight of the four stages of attachment. Finally, I learned more about the importance of celebrating diversity in the classrooms and as well as the culturally appropriate ways of teaching after reading “Diversity in Early care and Education” by Janet Gonzalez- Mena.
This week on module 4 I learned about attachments and how it is an important role for the development of infants. I also learned that there is a test called “strange situation video” that shows how infants act with different attachments. This module will help us to work with infants to create strong bonds with them and it can be a positive thing.
This week, I learned about attachment theory and why it’s important for babies to have that emotional relationship with their caregiver. I also learned about cultural identity and how they are ways to respect a child’s identity. This module will help me prepare to work with young children because it will help me learn how to be respectful of my children’s cultures.
This week I learned what that the attachment theory is about and how it is important to build a relationship with the child so they could feel same in the classroom. Also that you have to respect the child’s culture and be able to tell the children that being different in culture aspects is okay.
This week I learned a lot more about how infants make attachments with other human beings. I think it’s pretty interesting to see how they react towards people. In one of the videos it mentioned that they don’t prefer anyone for the first 6 weeks. They will make attachments with any human being. I think this work will help me to make stronger bonds with infants now knowing how to read them better.
This week I learned what attachment is, why it is important, and the importance of respecting each child’s culture. This will help me to work with children because I will be able to create a strong connection with them and I will respect their different customs.
This week I learned the different between individual and collective culture, respecting everybody culture when working with infants and finding a middle ground to solve our difference, also I learned what is the attachment theory. And what some of the technique I can used when working with infants.
In this week Modules for ECE 209 seminar I learnt about culture and what is cultural identity and the effects when some cultural identity is ignored.
In ECE 209 Lecture I learnt about the affect of attachment on infants. It creates trust and develops healthy/ social emotional development, problem solving skills, etc.
The connections I made is that creating positive attachments teaches the child care and patients
These materials from the module will help me become a better infant teacher because it expands my mind on what I need to know to help create those secure attachments and working with all different types of families and making the feel welcome regardless of their cultural identity
I reviewed this activity
In this weeks module I learned about relationships and how important attachment is. I also learned about culture and how to respect infant and families decisions but most importantly coming together to support what’s best for the children.
I learned about attachment theory and how it applies to caregivers. Children can form bonds with more than one adult, and it is important to be responsive to their needs and build trust.
My Ah-ha moment was realizing that the role of teachers can influence the self-esteem of the child.
This module has introduced me to the importance of forming a bond with the child as well as the parent.
