It’s important to learn criminology because it’s the scientific study the causes, correction and prevention of crimes. I look forward to learning criminology because I find it very interesting in knowing why someone would commit a crime and how I can help prevent a crime.

    • Yes, I totally agree and personally, I was always interested in the minds of psychopaths and would watch stories about them. I feel like recognizing the early signs would’ve prevented most people from becoming psychopaths. A lot of them had troubled childhood development stages caused by their living environment which introduces the idea of nature vs nurture.

  7. i want to study criminology not only for my safety but as passionate career to acknowledge the criminal mind and understanding every area in what different possibilities on why the criminal does this , figuring out the mind of killer is a interesting maze that criminology will teach me
it will open my mind to the truth that the world is not what it seems and that the world of criminals is dreading ,raw and unstable , that nobody really is normal , the interesting part to this truth is what drives me to learn and prevent these happenings, my passion for this just wants to continue the dive in the mind of a criminal. Crime is represented as an unlawful act that has punishment by authority. The importance in criminology in this world is preventing the serious issue that people prove to be toxic and negligent and shows patterns and why abnormal human action is caused, life is full of unknown happenings when we hear ,see, and feel the fear and what inhumane actions of other human abilities we question and want to learn not only will criminology teach us inform us on why this happens we can also learn to stop this uncontrollable inevitable actions as humans may or may not do.

  8. Studying Criminology can give you a great insight on criminals and their behaviors. I would love to study criminology so I can teach the young ones what not to do. Since I was a kid I always had a passion for criminal justice, being able to be around a lot of people who, grew up in poverty and follow that path or others who are cold blooded killers and learning what made them that way is really cool. Learning criminology will give me the knowledge that I need to be able to understand people a little more and teach the youth so that they can go down a better path. It will honestly help people as well as slow down crimes if more people knew criminology.

  9. Criminology is the study of crime and behaviors that are not acceptable in society. Studying criminology can open many doors in the law enforcement field with top government agencies and private companies. Criminology is important because it contributes to the criminal justice system so that crimes can properly be investigated. From studying criminology, I hope to get insight into the role of a criminologist, how to solve crime and the ups and downs when investigating a crime.

    • If more law enforcement agencies push its officers to studying criminology, I think that crimes will be investigated properly like you said because officers have a better understanding of how crime works, instead of the hyped the up version that you hear about.

      • I agree with what you’re saying , it should definitely be pushed more on law enforcement officers or anyone in the criminal justice field to gain knowledge and understanding on how to deal with any crime/ situation.

  10. Criminology is the study of crime and criminals; I believe that studying criminology will help someone become more empathetic and sympathetic towards people, especially towards people who commit victimless/ self-harming crimes such drug addiction or those who’ve joined a gang or are associated with gang activity. Also, studying criminology gives you the basic language of the different factors that drives people to commit the various crimes that they do and why. If more people study criminology and become policy makers many laws will be more just and fair because some people a new chance at life and new beginning.

  11. Studying criminology can be really beneficial to society as a whole. We need brave men and women who risk their lives everyday to bring justice to the city they work in. I feel if you studying criminology you would get a better understanding as to how the law works and what really goes on behind the scenes the we as citizens don’t often get to see on T.V or the Media.

  12. Criminology I believe is important because at some point and time all of us have been a victim of crime either directly or indirectly. Those directly affected by crime know the terrible mental and physical effects it can have on a person. Those of us who have not been a direct victim of crime also feel the effects of it whether it’s observing someone commit a low-level crime like vandalism or happening to walk into an active crime like shop lifting. As someone who currently works in the correctional setting, I am amazed to see some of the individuals I come across in the prison system. Most of these men and women are young and the crimes that they have committed are very violent. I feel that studying criminology will better equip me to have an understanding of why people commit certain crimes and what are the mechanics behind them. Often hearing from the inmate they can never seem to quite know the reason that caused them to commit the crime just that at the time the reward outweighed the risk.

    • I find it so interesting that you work in a correctional setting! I can’t imagine the things you see and deal with on a day-to-day basis. it’s also interesting to learn that you’ve seen more young people committing crimes than anything and the fact that they’re also very violent crimes, is very alarming.

  13. The study of criminology is important because crime is everywhere and it’s beneficial to understand why it occurs. Studying criminology can possibly help reduce crime. It also helps get insight on a person committing crimes. I think studying criminology will help me in my future career by teaching me to bring justice in the courtroom.

  14. Criminology is the study of the forms, causes, and social reactions to criminal behavior, criminology is important because it happens so often on a daily basis. Criminology allows us to understand why crimes are committed whether it be societal or personal, understanding these crimes allows us to prevent future crimes from happening or having the ability to foresee them. I have always been interested in this aspect as to why people commit crimes and our answers lie within our society, economy, and personal conflicts. What I will get out of studying criminology is just that, being able to connect dots as to why a crime was committed and how these types of crimes can be prevented.

  15. criminology is the examination of crime and criminals; it allows people to have a deeper understanding of why criminals commit crimes and what led them to behave this way. studying criminology benefits society in various ways, for example, it can educate people on how to solve a crime just in case law enforcement can’t make it to the scene on time. a lot of lives can be saved because of criminology. studying crime helps explore and examine its causes, the what’s, why, where, or how. although not every crime can be stopped, the study of criminology can at least help reduce and lower the number of crimes happening today in society.

  16. The study of criminology focuses on reducing crime , It studies both crime and criminals. It allows those in a criminal justice field along with regular people to understand what drove a criminal to commit a crime .Studying criminology is beneficial to society because it brings awareness as well as safety by teaching us what to examine and of course all cases are very different but studying criminology allows us to put ourselves in the place of the victim and the abuser.

  17. Criminology is the study of why people commit wrong doings. Criminology is very complex, many variations in what is wrong and right. All can lead back to different cultures that have different policies. This is criminology on a more global scale. Focusing on the States, criminology can be used to see why certain areas have a higher concentration of crime compared to others. Crime as a whole is objective anyway. Majority comes to create rules and regulations that some minority may disagree with. Human beings cannot work together as a race without conflict. Criminology can help prevent potential issues but this is not a absolute science.

  18. We should study criminology because it helps us better understand why crimes are committed, and by whom. Learning about criminology also allow us to prevent crime from being committed by giving us a deeper understanding on why they’re committed. Also, criminology teaches us about how psychopaths brains work and gives us insight on how they think when they commit crimes. The study of criminology allows people to work in places such as the justice system, law enforcement and public safety.

  19. Criminology is the study of crime from a social and individual perspective. As a social science, criminology is important because it this not only concerned with the causes and preventions of crime but the social impacts and reactions to crime, as well as the criminals themselves. I want to be a police officer, so I think I will develop my eye to detect patterns, sift through clues, and examine other mitigating factors surrounding crimes that have already happened, as well as those that could happen without hard work in trying to prevent them.

  20. Criminology is the study of of crime. It is important to study this because it can help us understand criminals and others. This is specifically useful because it allows a deeper connection with others, it allows an understanding of something that you may not relate much too. This can also be applied to social connections it can help establish boundaries within yourself and others. I want to become a criminal defense attorney. I want to go to trial i want to do all the necessary steps to learning how to communicate in these specific situations. This is essential to me because it allows me to take myself out of the situation and out my focus on just what my career is. I want to get communication and learning to understand the minds of criminals and how to work with them.
