                         Personality test

The personality I was given by the 16 personalities assessment was an assertive commander. In the findings of my research an assertive commander is one who is quick-witted , a strategic leader who is conclusively in planning visions and does not wait to act upon their plan. After taking the assessment, I took time upon myself to look up terms and definitions of the given key words of an assertive commander. Words like determined ,sharp minded, confident, ruthless, and decisive would be used to describe someone with the personality of an assertive commander. I do agree with the results from the assessment.

The assigned strengths of the personality type – assertive commander are efficient, tactical planners, & quick  witted . I do see these traits play out in my personal/work life . In regards to being efficient, within the domain of this personality an individual would prefer to sway  on the side of efficiency as they perceive inefficiency to be extremely unsuitable. This could possibly be a challenge in the work field because in some situations if I am too efficient it might lead others colleagues to be unprepared or incapable when in reality I may have just over planned. In my opinion, the trait of being a tactical planner is the most very crucial characteristic by far . Commanders are able to create plans and navigate through the necessary steps that complete the entire project . Needless to say,  this can be a challenge in my personal life and work life because not everyone has the same perception on how they believe things should be developed. Everyone is different and every angle of observation will never be the same . The notion of being considered to be quick witted is a vital role in how assertive commanders are perceived by their subordinates. Often than not , commanders are expected to know the jurisdictions surrounding their organization and must be educated enough to be able to consistently dissect what the steps that the objective has laid out . This can be a challenge because by the standard of what being strong willed is ; expectations can be set really high.

Evidently, I do agree with the notion that personality tests can be accurate in determining whether a candidate is right for a specific role . I say this because the assessment would allow HR departments to “get a feel” of who the interviewee is beforehand. This way, the company can initially decide whether or not to process with the necessary steps of hiring the candidate .

The Advocate – Personality Test

The Advocate

I am an advocate as determined by the personality test. Advocates are the rarest personality types of all.  We are special because we leave our marks on the world and people never forget us. Advocates lead with integrity and idealism, but we never get caught up in daydreams. We plan out or goals and take steps to achieve them. I agree with the results and I believe it describes me and who I am as a person.  I have always been the person to stand up for what is right and live as morally correct as possible. I do not believe in bullying and I like to make people feel comfortable. I might not always agree with people, but I respect their opinions. I am a very empathetic person and I always try to put myself in other people’s shoes for better understanding I believe in uplifting people and being generous because everyone needs someone.

Advocates tend to be creative people; I am always able to find solutions to other people’s problems. I can tell people how to get from a-z and the steps to take to get the results they want. My friends always come to me with their problems because they say I give great advice and I am never judge mental no matter what they call me about. I also can see straight through people, so I see their true feelings and needs, and I respect them. I move by certain principles that I believe in and I stay true to them when I express them to people whether its through conversation or on pen and paper, I can translate everything that I feel accurately. Sometimes my passion can throw people off guard because I do not like to settle for a lot of things when it comes to education and careers, so some get offended because I always push for more for myself and other people. Although I am a go getter and I love achieving everything I set out to do I would never double cross anyone to get there. I always think about my actions and how they affect people and I pride myself on being an altruistic person. As strong as my strengths are, I also have weaknesses. Advocates tend to be sensitive to criticism, I must admit that when I feel strongly about someone or something and someone says something to challenge my feelings, I tend to be argumentative, and I do get upset. Even though I am a people’s person and people always gravitate to me I am also closed off and very guarded. I have a small circle of friends and a small circle of people I can trust. Most advocates are reluctant to open up to people.  I do feel like my strengths and weakness of my personality play out in my personal life and my work life.

I think that every company should make potential candidates take personality tests. I think personality test should be part of the screening process. Personality test can tell you a lot about a person. For instance, if a person does not have the personality where they are nurturers, have a lot of patience and like to care for people they are more than likely suck at being a nurse. I think your personality has a lot to do with your career choice for instance I am an access service representative who registers people in the emergency room. I interact with patients and I collect their demographics. I absolutely enjoy my job and I do with out any issues. My personality supports my job title. As an advocate I enjoy helping people and making them feel comfortable.  If my personality did not fit my career choice, I would not be able to do the job with sincerity. On my bad days it would show, and it would eventually get back to my supervisors that I had a bad attitude.

Personality Test Assignment

My personality type is the advocate (INFJ-A). I agree with the quote “treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they capable of being” by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe. Advocates are the rarest personality of types of all. Deep sense of idealism and integrity. Advocates unique combination of personality traits makes them complex and quite versatile. Advocates generally strive to do what’s right – and they want to help create a world where others do the right thing as well. People with this personality type may feel called to use their strengths – including creativity, imagination, and sensitivity – to uplift others and spread compassion. Advocates may see helping others as their purpose in life. They are troubled by injustice, and they typically care more about altruism than personal gain.

As a result, Advocates tend to step in when they see someone facing unfairness or hardship. Advocates may be reserved, but they communicate in a way that is warm and sensitive. This emotional honesty and insight can make a powerful impression on the people around them. Advocates value deep, authentic relationships with others, and they tend to take great care with other people’s feelings. That said, these personalities also need to prioritize reconnecting with themselves. Advocates need to take some time alone now and then to decompress, recharge, and process their thoughts and feelings. I totally agree with the majority of the results but I do not think I judge other, I just see things for what it is. I agree with everything else because it is describing how I am with my family, friends and strangers. I would like to say that I do not see myself to be an introvert but an omni-vert yes.

My strengths are being creative, insightful, principled, passionate and altruistic. Although, these are all positives for me, some may look at me as a know-it-all or someone who thinks their better than others because I look deeper into situations others would just pay attention to the surface of. The challenges I have faced from being intuitive and passionate are that though I see more that meets the eye no everyone will understand me. Some see my passionate ways as being aggressive. Yes, all of these traits play out in my personal life. I love helping others the best way I can whether it is my family, friends or strangers. Some people say I am too sensitive and some think I can be naive because I do not judge others based off what I hear or see. I go based off what I feel and know due to experiences in life. I choose to see things from all perspectives. I believe in individuality and having an open mind-set.

I do not agree that personality tests are effective ways to determine whether a candidate is right for a role because people change and there are those who enjoy learning new things. They are so many people who want to change or want change but have no been given the opportunity do to survey as such when going for a position that requires  surveys and or personality test. I feel energy speaks more volumes than any test or survey to get any position. Everyone should be given a chance at something new or a second chance to try again.

Justin Campos – Personality Test Assignment

Describe your personality type, as determined by the assessment. Do you agree with the results? Why or why not?

According to the personality test when it comes to the “Mind” it states that I am introverted and I agree with this because I like to keep to myself a lot. When it comes to Energy it says that I am an intuitive which I disagree with because I feel like I am more of an observant because I like to understand my surrounding and I don’t react a lot based on feelings only. When came to how I make decisions and cope with feeling it 64 percent thinking and this is one I strongly agree with because I consider myself a thinker and most of the time, I’m thinking about something and how to make that something a reality so when it comes to coping and making decisions it’s the same. And the last two are Tactics and Identity, for Tactics I got judging therefore I agree with this the test when it comes to tactics because judging it’s about planning ahead and I believe that is one of my character traits, for Identity I got 58 percent for assertive which is being confident on your work and personality, I relate to being assertive because I notice it myself and get told by others that know me. So overall I think I agree with the result of the test because even for the one that I felt like I was the opposite of it was nearly at 50 percent.

What are the assigned strengths of this personality type? What are some challenges? Do you see these playing out in your work or personal life?

For Introverted a strength would be that people only know what they need to know and you have more time to think. A weakness would be expanding because I feel like to expand you have to be more of a people’s person. A challenge an introverted person would mostly face is being misunderstood because they keep to themselves and don’t share much

For Intuitive a strength would be being able to understand people better when it comes to certain situations where being an observant would make you look like a bad person. As an intuitive a challenge may be when to decide if you should be an intuitive or push it aside for that situation . A weakness you may face is people trying to take advantage of intuitive being one of your traits.

For the Thinking trait a strength would be being able to see all possibilities when it comes to making a choice or decision. A challenge would not overthinking wasting too much time when it comes to making a decision and a weakness would not taking feelings into consideration when it come to Nature.

Are personality tests effective ways to determine whether a candidate is right for a role? Why or why not?

I would agree that using a personality test would be a effective way to determine weather a candidate is right for a certain role in a job because if a person reacts of emotions a lot and want a manager role, that role would not be a good role for that person because if there’s a problem reacting out o emotions might make thing worse and make the problem even bigger.

Personality Test

My personality type, which was determined by 16 Personalities, is commander personality. It is defined as leaders who are willing to fight to gain what they want and challenge others to push themselves to achievement. They are people who refuse to give up when many others may in certain situations. They will fight till the end for their beliefs. Commander personality only makes up 3% of the population and some of the most successful businessmen and women. They are not afraid to take a risk and are known to achieve great results. I agree with this result to a certain extent. I am not a person to give up easily on anything. I always want to see things to the end. I have had the drive to work hard, but I can say my drive never to give up and stick out any challenge was developed from being with my partner. She is always there to push me and help me fight through anything.

Some weaknesses of commander personality are impatience, poor handling of emotion, and arrogance. When I think about my work environment, I do not think I am arrogant. I always try my best to work with everyone I deal with, and each of my subordinates, I try to give them a fair chance in every situation. I do not believe or look at myself as being better at my job than anyone. I am impatient. I often find it hard to leave any work for anyone else to handle for me. The company I work for has different departments, and I often cannot wait for the other department to complete something. I tend to get it done on my own. I will also admit that I can, at times, be a poor handler of emotions. In this situation, when I do talk to my partner, she will point out where I could have been less ‘rude’ to others. I remember a couple of months ago, as I left work, one of my colleagues let me know they left their phone at the store. I told him I am not turning back even though I was close by. My partner, who was on the phone at the time, told me how wrong I was. I know how upset she was; I turned back to get the phone for my colleague. She will often say I need to think of if I were in the same situation, how would I feel.

Some strength of commander personality is self-confident, efficient, and charismatic and inspiring. I do think that I am self-confident. Once I learn something, I will make sure that I am one of the best at it. In my current job, I have learned the position at a rapid speed that the manager said that I am performing so well in a short space of time, and there was only one other person he knew was that good in a short space of time. My self-confidence is high that my family always points out that I need to step off the horse’. I highly believe in efficiency at my job. I have personally sent employees home for lack of efficiency. If you come to work and get the work done, do not come and lay back when there are jobs to complete. Being charismatic and inspiring is something that my family, both my and my partner’s family, says. I am always willing to blend in and create an atmosphere of pushing everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. I have always been the one to motivate my immediate family to reach for the stars and help them in any way I can to get there.

I do not think that a personality test is an effective way to determine whether a candidate is right for the job or not. Many people in interviews always give the interviewer the information they want to hear to get the job. Based on the job description, an interviewee may answer the questions on the personality test to reflect these answers. When we look at a personality test, it is often the same question phrased in different ways. Due to this, a person can stick to the same answers and, if they have taken numerous tests of its type and have done adequate research, they may able to navigate what answers can help gain what results.  Also, a person can have one thing on the test, which can be their view of themselves, but they are nothing like what they stated in reality.

Zoila Cedeno – Personality Assessment

According to the website 16Personalities.com, I was assessed to have the personality traits belonging to the Protagonist group. Apparently, only two percent of the population belongs to this group. Most of the people who are found to have this type of personality are frequently politicians, coaches, and teachers. People who are identified as Protagonists are often confident, charismatic, and good communicators. Some well-known Protagonists are former President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, John Cusack, and Ben Affleck.

As I read through the assessment I found myself agreeing with a large part of it. The characteristics that are used to describe a Protagonist are tolerant, reliable, altruistic, and natural-born leaders. I am someone who always values other people’s opinions. I don’t expect everyone to always agree with my perspective. I enjoy listening to other’s point of view and always see it as an opportunity to learn and, hopefully, gain a better understanding of whatever topic is being discussed. I also consider myself to be reliable. When I take on a project or task, I always make sure that I do whatever I need to do to complete it even if that means that I must put in extra hours or rearrange my schedule or plans. I feel that I am very instinctive, and this helps me to be able to read a person or a room and figure out a way to engage the people I am with. I also consider myself to be altruistic. I have mentored many people throughout my career. I have often provided employment opportunities to people without experience and helped them further their careers. Despite having a full schedule, I have often helped classmates with homework, projects, and test preparation. All these things were described as strengths.

I also agreed with the site’s analysis of what my weaknesses are perceived to be. I am overly idealistic. I always try to see the good in people. I always strive for perfection which means that I will edit and review a project more times than I should. I am a little indecisive and often second-guess or overanalyze my decisions. Always the peacemaker, always trying to get everyone on the same page to reach a consensus. I am always trying to fix something and often take on other people’s problems as if they were my own, especially in my personal life. My word is my bond. If I promise to do something, I will make sure that I make good on my word, no matter what.

The assessment also indicates that Protagonists choose careers that “…type cast their eyes towards anything that lets them do what they love most – helping other people!”. I feel this is absolutely true. One of the reasons why I love business management is that it provides you with the opportunity to create learning and growth opportunities for others. In my prior management position, I created an internship program that allowed students to join the organization and get hands-on work experience that they could use for school credit as well as list as work experience on their resume. I  provided them with reference letters that they could use in their job searches.  Some were offered full-time or part-time positions within the organization upon completing the internship. In my present role, I often find ways to streamline tasks or projects and then teach others within the organization to adopt them as new practices leading to the highest efficiency level possible.

While many of the personality traits of a Protagonist work well in a professional environment, I feel that might not be the same in my personal life. I have heard friends say that I can be perceived as intimidating and too professional, when in reality, I am extremely sensitive. Often this is something that goes unperceived because I always portray this image of confidence and strength. This means that when I am struggling with an issue, most times I am left to do it alone.

I feel that personality assessments can be a helpful tool and help simplify the hiring process. It can provide some insight into an individual’s personality traits, motivation, values, and work preferences. They can help an employer determine whether someone is the right fit for a specific job or role and eliminate any bias in the decision making process. However, it should not be the only measure by which a decision to hire a person should be made. Personality assessments are based on the responses that the person is selecting in the moment. Their responses can be influenced by their mood, nervousness, time constraints, cultural barriers, or a candidate can choose to tweak their responses to match whatever the organization or role requires. This can make the results of a personality assessment unreliable or inaccurate.

Personality Test

According to the assessment I am a turbulent entertainer, someone who will break into dance, get caught up in the moment and want the people surrounding them to join, also someone who is generous with their time, and energy. The test also concluded “I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle.” I agree with certain parts of the exam, I am someone who likes to entertain but only when I’m comfortable, I don’t like breaking out dancing and having all eyes on me because I get nervous. However I am very generous with my time and energy,  I am selfish, insecure at times, and impatient but not hard to deal with. I’m very easygoing.

The assigned strengths of this personality are being bold, original, practical, observant, and excellent people skills. The assigned weaknesses are being sensitive, easily bored, conflict averse, poor long term planners, and unfocused. I see having excellent people skills, being sensitive, easily bored, and conflict averse in my work and personal life. I like talking to new people and making new friends even though sometimes I could be a little shy in the beginning. Being sensitive and easily bored is something I definitely can relate to at both work and in my regular life, I get bored when I’m not occupied, and I am sensitive when mean things are said to me or basically my feelings not being taken into consideration. Conflict Averse is something I do on a regular basis. My mom growing up told me it wasn’t classy for women to get into fights and that is something I completely agree with; I don’t think anyone is worth me getting mad over and wasting my time so I try to avoid conflict.

I don’t think personality tests are effective because I don’t think you can have the right interpretation of someone’s personality and who they are just by asking them a couple questions. Not only that but if someone is applying for a role they can easily lie and play the part of who you want them to be. All while hiding their true personality. Even though this test did get some parts of my personality right it also got a lot wrong, as I said I like entertaining but not when all eyes are on me. Which is an example of different aspects that come into play when trying to guess someone’s personality.
