Even though I didn’t attend the debate about whether students should go back to school or stay remote, I know that their was some good compelling arguments on both sides. After researching about the two topics, where I stand is that students should stay in remote learning during this world pandemic that we have been in. This pandemic has already stop the way of how people in the world can live their life, and how the world is to function as. I will not want it to stop the education of the youth, they are the future and this pandemic will not stop them from being it. The pros of my position are more freedom to take breaks, students can learn at their own rate, students develop deeper problem solving skills, Lack  of social activities and everyone’s in their own space. Though these are some good pros some people that won’t agree with my position will have some cons to say like, some students can’t learn from visual, students not participating, getting students to engage, making them attend class and seeing if they really comprehend what their learning. After going over the pros and cons of my position I still believe my position is stronger that the other one, people may stand behind. My position is stronger because, I think my position will strive better in the condition that we have come across today as the COVID virus. My position allows them to still educate the youth without endangering the lives of others in anyway possible. Instead of making them go to school separating the desk so their 6 feet a part, giving them certain times to come to school because not a lot of people can be in one area at the time and sanitizing the desk and disaffecting the classroom after every class. It’s to much to make sure to do everyday Monday- Friday. The best way is to stand by my position because, it easy and cost you less money to do.

I know that the biggest risks companies are facing this year is COVID but, there are many more risk that are unlock because, of COVID. Millions of people are working from home around the world as the coronavirus pandemic spreads and authorities plead for people to stay at home to slow the rate of contagion. Though people staying and working from home helps stop the spread of the virus, it increases the likelihood of companies getting hacked through weakness in employees home networks and misuse of VPN. Because people are working from home, they’re also more likely to answer their phone when an unknown number calls, or be more susceptible to calls faked to look like their own phone numbers. They might think a co-worker is calling or their defense might be down with kids at home and a general heightened level of stress.

To avoid companies from getting hacked, it starts with the boss of it to take control so that they will never seem like their defense is down. The first thing I recommend them to implement is to check up on their employees every hour to make sure their not getting distracted. Give your employees time frames that they should meet, while working at home, make sure they know just because their home doesn’t mean to slack off. To approach the solution this way you can call your employees on the company phone to see how they doing, how the work getting alone and if they have any questions or problems with their work. Another way is to sign in to your computer and look at their work through your screen, like to spy on them without them knowing. This is a good way you to make sure your employees is not slack off, that way your company will be on notice with everything going on. The second thing I recommend is fir the company to install their own vpn in their employees house to lower the risk of getting hacked. This way will save the trouble to keep checking up on your employees but, will cost you just to keep your company up and running. VPN will be your best bet for your company not to be hacked by anyone, it’s the best defense of line for you.

By placing these solutions into your company systems you are giving yourself the upper hand on these hackers that are trying to break into your security and damage your company as a whole. These two solutions are the best two that you can use to make sure your company doesn’t go three that. Even though one is greater than the other it’s still the top two. Now that the world is going through a pandemic that has the state taking a turn on how things are getting run, new problems are escalating in the world to damage companies. You have to have your head on the swivel, nobody’s safe and you can’t trust nobody either. With this pandemic in the world it’s to easy for hackers to get into companies and break them down inside out.

This risk with affect companies and employees both. For the employees they will be out of a job, they will lose their only type of source of money to pay their bills and take care of their family. The company will take the biggest affect because, they will have to rebuild everything back up from scratch and have to make it back up to the top. This pandemic is really hurting the economy and making businesses go out of business, we have to take the necessary precautions to eliminate the risk on the economy and grow back to what we once were.

Benefits are a part of the compensation package, and they are often worth a great deal to employees. Health insurance and retirement, in particular, are valuable and coveted benefits. So too are paid vacations, sick days, life insurance, and retirement packages. Because these benefits are so valuable, it’s important for managers to make their employees aware of what’s available to them, and to work with HR to provide training in how to access and use benefits. In most companies, employees can choose among different benefits. There is a cost associated with many benefits, so some employees will opt out so they can have more in their paycheck. Whereas  others will opt in, for better health benefits or a greater sense of security in case of disaster.

Many companies have a good reputation because, of what they can offer their employees. Once you can give your employees what they want or somewhat match it, their yours. Every company has those main benefits but, when they have those out of the blue benefits they draw more employees in. In the employees mind they can get the same hood pay they have with one company but have more benefits without losing anything. A company that comes  to mine that I’ve had the pleasure to work for is UPS. Out of all the delivering companies like, FedEx , Usps, Amazon and Dhl, UPS is has the best employee satisfaction, compensation and benefits. Overall this company is the jackpot, if you get into it, you will fall in the love and will not even think to leave it. The benefits provided by Ups are, broken up into retirement & financial, health & insurance and other. In the first one it includes, 401k plan, profit sharing, stock bonus, defined benefit pension plan and defined contribution pension plan. The next one has, health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, temporary disability insurance, accidental death & dismemberment insurance, long-term disability insurance and prepaid legal. The extra ones are TAP, work-life balance programs and managers incentive plan.

Out of all the benefits there are 3 main benefits that catch my appealing are, retirement plans, health insurance and TAP. This first one retirement plan is very interesting to me because, I would like to be set when I retire so, I wouldn’t have to work after that. I don’t want to have to work after I’m old and not be able to move like before. The second one Health insurance, I gotta make sure I can take care of myself without worrying about paying large amounts of bills for my health. My health is very important to me so, if I can get a benefit that can help with my health I’m gonna jump on that. Their helping me out, without me having to pay a dime. The last one Tap, this is very useful for the future if, I decided to further my education. Having this benefit will allow me to get the best education I want without having to pay out of pocket. Having Tap can help me save up money while I’m trying to get a education to get into a better field to gain more.

Retention assignment

After reading the case study provided, it seems like this company needs to work on their management. Reading what’s going on with Harper, I can see that the most demotivating part of her job is that, she is doing more work than ever and doesn’t feel like she is being recognized for her contributions. The worst thing you can do as a company is to not recognize your employee, you gotta make them feel like you care and appreciate them for all their doing for your company. Not something then this can raise your employee retention and that’s not go for your company because, you will be losing a lot of money.

If I was a HR manager, meeting with Harper’s supervisor, David the first thing I would tell him before giving him advise on how to re- engage Harper is, to always make sure your employees feels welcome and appreciated. Some key exponents I would tell David to do is, make time for them, realign their goals, set short & long term expectations, recognize good performance and incentivize improvement. In this case Harper’s is not getting any communication from his supervisor David, making her feel like what she’s doing is worthless and is not recognition worthy. She feels like she’s doing all this extra work  and is not getting any help or credit for what she’s doing.

If this company’s were to lose a caliber such as Harper, they will be taking a big hit towards their company. The first thing that will happen is their employee retention will fly because, now they have to look for a replacement or try to retain them by giving or offering them something to stay. Harper is not someone they would want to lose as a company because it seems like he’s the glue that holds it down and without him that company will not excellent to new heights.

After taking the personality test that was provided it turns out that I am an assertive commander. According to my research an Assertive Commander personality sees opportunity in every obstacle they might come across. They can’t get easily derailed by unforeseen events, and swiftly modify their plans according to the new situations. They are intelligent and witty, and their mind works towards finding a way out. Seeing what my personality is being portrayed as, I agree with the results I have gotten from the personality test. What the personality test gave me was spot on what I am like l, in general. I never let any opportunity slip from me, I also make sure I take what ever is given to me and make the best out of it. When my results came back and it said that I was a commander I was laughing because, when I was smaller I use to always want to be in charge like it didn’t matter what it was.

The assigned strengths that my personality has are challenged-motivated, self confident and relaxed. The assigned challenges that my personality has are impatient, risk takers inconsiderate. After viewing the strengths and weaknesses of my personality, I believe that it’s dead spot on, and this is how I am, majority of the time. Throughout my personal and work like I do see these strengths and weaknesses playing out a lot, through my personality. In my personal and work life  with these strengths I see them  playing important roles. Like I said before I’m always taking advantage of every opportunity given to me, nothing is taking for granted by me and not one opportunity can slip from me at work or personal. From young I was taught that you have to have confident in yourself or, nobody else would. Having self confident will allow you to show people that you carry yourself with pride and that you don’t show no fear. I’ve been told by a lot people that I am a relaxed person, like they were shocked that I can take jokes people make about me or negative energy.

Now onto the weaknesses, that my personality have, the one that screams at me the most is impatient. Everyone that knows me or has worked with me know I have the least patience. I hate to wait to long for things to get done, where as I would do it myself. I know that’s not professional but, that’s why I think I tend to rather work alone then in groups.  With the risk taking weaknesses, I do tend to only take risk when it’s something that corresponds with my belief and interest. Doing risk like this, I know will hurt me in the long run because, I will be missing out on opportunities that will benefit me and allow me to grow.  I never use to think that I was a person that is inconsiderate but, as I got older I started to see that at times I could become like that. I have to realize that not everyone learns or can do things the way I do them and how fast I can do them. This is where I believe a improvement in my impatient can help me be less inconsiderate.

Based on the situation that the questions is presenting about, are personality tests effective ways to determine whether a candidate is right for a role, I think it is an effective way that helps people really know what this persons intentions are in life. This way is a better and more professional way to see where people are at instead of going through their social media’s. Doing it this way shows that you have respect for the person, instead of violating their personal space, where they post personal things.

Zappos & Company Strategy Discussion

  1. What do you think of the wacky strategy of Zappos?  
    The wacky strategy that Zappos is implementing into their company is not a bad way to run a business. I believe if, you can get the right people that can show growth and progress in this type of work environment then, its a good approach to put your business on the map with. With this approach though you have to be very careful with the people you hiring, you have to really pay close attention because any little mistake can cost you big. The way Zappos is going about it  with a thural  interview process is that they won’t hiring you unless they see themselves hanging out with you outside the work place.

Why do you think this company takes a radical approach?                                                                            I believe this company takes a radical approach to the way they run their business because, they wanted to be different.  Other companies use products to be differentiated from others but this company wants to use company culture because, it can not be physically stolen from others. The reason why this company takes this approach is because, every other company follows the same approach and doesn’t really give company culture a lot of notice, they focus more on productivity. I believe it’s always good to focus on productivity but, if you can connect with your employees or if, they don’t feel comfortable at their work place they won’t want to produce or even work their anymore.

Is their another company you can think of with excellent customer service ?                                    Their is not a variety of companies that provide and thrives on excellent customer service as Zappos because, most companies thrive on productivity. The only company that comes to mind that provides excellent customer service is Trader Joe’s. This company is the type of company that works for the customer needs while making sure theirs needs is meet, by working through a strategic plan. They have this rule that if a product in the floor has been not reprised to what they product is, you will get that product for free. Them implementing this rule allows them to have a good relationship with their customer and to let their employees know  they mess up their gonna lose money?
  4. Would you want to work for this company ? Why or why not ?                                                                      After reading and hearing about the way Zappos runs their company and to see that their using a different approach, I would work for this company. I would want to work for a company that cares about their culture so that their employees will want to come to work and enjoy themselves while producing exceptional work. I feel that I will excel really well in this type of work environment and probably wouldn’t want to leave that type of atmosphere for somewhere that does have this.
