Ethics Assignment

The class discussion was on remote learning, the question that was being debated was if student should return to in school classes next semester. The student we are focusing on its elementary school student. The size I was given during this debate was that we should not go to in school class next semester. The point I made to get my view and my size point across were.

  • In school classes are better for the student because it helps them with staying focus and sometimes the school is the only environment that is safe for the student because of unstable homes. Also, this helps with other distraction an elementary school kid may face while remote learning.
  • It is very important for kids to engage with other kid to build social skills that are going to help them when it comes to the real world later on in life. If kids continue to do remote learning, they are going to grow up socially awkward.
  • All teacher was paper of the first group to available to get the vaccine and there was a study that show that kids are not likely to transmit the virus and pass it on. Also, school that are open have a great no contact and disinfecting system.
  • In school classes help parent that have to go to work and are not financially stable to get a babysitter to watch their elementary school child.

The other side was trying to make their case that school should not be open and the point they use was as such.

  • Kids get bully less since they are not in school in person but in respond to that bullying can happen through remote learning because you can send private messages through zoom.
  • Remote learning help student become independent but in respond to that student in elementary school need attention and assistant because they are very young and are easily distracted.
  • Remote learning stops the spread of corona virus in respond to that teacher were in the first group available to get the vaccine and kids are less like to pass the virus.

I feel like we have to take the step forward and start to do in school class because that is what seem best for the student especially the younger kids in elementary school and even on higher school level but more for the younger crowd but no size is correct in my opinion because both sides come with risk.

Risk Management Assignment

Cancel Culture

In today’s the biggest treat an organization can face is cancel culture. Cancel Culture is a social media group that take anything that could be used to make a organization or person look bad and try to make the businesses go out of business. The social media group can take something that was said or a product roll out and take it out of content since today’s society is more sensitive when it comes to certain topic because there are trying to make change or bring awareness to a problem, so this group would take advantage of that and try to make people turn against the organization. One example of this would be H&M when they put an African American kid in a T-Shirt that said “coolest monkey in the jungle”, this could’ve been taken as not racist or racist but the company came out and apologies for that and state that they did not mean it in that way. In the case of H&M it was up to the society to decide if what H&M did was wrong or not. In other cases, the Cancel Culture has try canceling organization that deserved it. One of the Organization that was canceled for the right reason, like Tommy Hilfiger when Tommy Hilfiger himself said that he did not like “black people” wearing his clothes.

One-way companies and organization can avoid from being “cancel” is by being very clear with what they mean when releasing a product and if they had said or put any product out that can be taken in a negative way before, they should come out and address it before the it could be taken out of content or used against them. For future project Organization should stay away from doing project that may involve cultures, race, or sexuality without doing research and without taking an approach that won’t hurt or offend anybody that’s part of that group.

Cancel culture can affect the employee in different ways some employee may feel like their right of freedom of speech may have been taken away from them to a certain people because if they say something that can be taken in the wrong way it could affect the company they work for and even cost them their job.

Retention Assignment

After reading the “Eight Effective Retention Strategies” I feel like number six would work the best for Harper and her situation. Number six is “Don’t overburden Employees” which is about not working your employee to a breaking point where they are treat unfair. In the case Harper was working more than ever and that was what lead to her wanting to leave the company.

What do you think is the most demotivating part of Harper’s job?

Well, it all starts with Harper last boss leaving which she had a great relationship with, then on top of that her job has become more since she had to take more responsibility because she has to do more work since some of the thing her previous boss did, she had to do now. Therefore, she became stressed because she couldn’t handle the her personal and work life. She understood her new boss had a lot on his plate too, but she felt unappreciated.

If you were an HR manager meeting with Harper’s supervisor, David, what advice would you give to help them re-engage Harper?

If I was in a HR manager meeting with Harper’s supervisor, David, I would advise him to dedicate more time and help Harper more since she had taken more responsibilities and had more work than ever now.

What would be the downside of losing Harper as an employee?

One downside about losing Harper as an employee is that she is an experience employee since she has been working that role come out of college, so losing someone that has some much time working that role would slow down the team if the person replacing her is not as experience with the role.

Describe your personality type, as determined by the assessment. Do you agree with the results? Why or why not?

According to the personality test when it comes to the “Mind” it states that I am introverted and I agree with this because I like to keep to myself a lot. When it comes to Energy it says that I am an intuitive which I disagree with because I feel like I am more of an observant because I like to understand my surrounding and I don’t react a lot based on feelings only. When came to how I make decisions and cope with feeling it 64 percent thinking and this is one I strongly agree with because I consider myself a thinker and most of the time, I’m thinking about something and how to make that something a reality so when it comes to coping and making decisions it’s the same. And the last two are Tactics and Identity, for Tactics I got judging therefore I agree with this the test when it comes to tactics because judging it’s about planning ahead and I believe that is one of my character traits, for Identity I got 58 percent for assertive which is being confident on your work and personality, I relate to being assertive because I notice it myself and get told by others that know me. So overall I think I agree with the result of the test because even for the one that I felt like I was the opposite of it was nearly at 50 percent.

What are the assigned strengths of this personality type? What are some challenges? Do you see these playing out in your work or personal life?

For Introverted a strength would be that people only know what they need to know and you have more time to think. A weakness would be expanding because I feel like to expand you have to be more of a people’s person. A challenge an introverted person would mostly face is being misunderstood because they keep to themselves and don’t share much

For Intuitive a strength would be being able to understand people better when it comes to certain situations where being an observant would make you look like a bad person. As an intuitive a challenge may be when to decide if you should be an intuitive or push it aside for that situation . A weakness you may face is people trying to take advantage of intuitive being one of your traits.

For the Thinking trait a strength would be being able to see all possibilities when it comes to making a choice or decision. A challenge would not overthinking wasting too much time when it comes to making a decision and a weakness would not taking feelings into consideration when it come to Nature.

Are personality tests effective ways to determine whether a candidate is right for a role? Why or why not?

I would agree that using a personality test would be a effective way to determine weather a candidate is right for a certain role in a job because if a person reacts of emotions a lot and want a manager role, that role would not be a good role for that person because if there’s a problem reacting out o emotions might make thing worse and make the problem even bigger.

Hi, One take away that i got from the meeting last week was during the break room. In the break room we talked about one of the most tricky questions asked during an interview at least to me and it was when asked to tell the person interviewing you “a little about yourself” and what i took from talking about that question is that you have to talk about background professionally with a little of your backstory.

Equal Rights & The Law

Equal rights and the law have made thing easier but Equality still hasn’t been reached. Equal rights have always been in the conversation since women and people of color was giving rights. One big step into accomplishing equality was in 1963 when president John F. Kennedy passed the Equal Pay Act to try and help women to get pay the same as a man for doing the same job. Even though the Equal Pay Act was passed in 1963 women have yet to receive equal but are closer than ever. There has been many more law passed to reach the main goal which is equality one of those law is the Fair Standards Act which help the U.S come up with minimum wage. Pensions was another part of achieving the goal of equality by giving people pensions eventually no matter of the work force. The civil Right act was one of the biggest steps into equality because this was the law that gave people of color the right to be treated as humans and not as objects that can be used and treat like less of a person by paying them less. Not only did it help stop discrimination against people of color but all minorities.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg a charterer in the movie “On the Basis of Sex” is a woman in the 1960s that had a dream but based on her gender it was far from reach. Ruth Bader Ginsburg wanted to be a lawyer but because he was a female and in the 1960s that was not a normal thing for a female to do it looked like a long shot. Ginsburg was put through many obstacle and challenges by the people around her since the career she wanted to presume was mainly male dominated she still did not give up till she reaches her goal and became a lawyer. She used those same obstacles and challenges she had to go through to feed her desire of reach her goal. She was a strong woman because she made sure even though she was a female trying to accomplish something that was out of their league in the people minds in 1960s she would make sure to stand out and let her voice be heard.
