Our Unit 4 Assignment will draw on information we have learned in this unit about how organizations plan for, recruit, and select employees for open roles. We are fortunate to have guest speakers Annie Stankevich, Head of Enterprise Sales, East at LinkedIn and Tiffany Suarez, Technical Recruiter at Spotify, joining us for a live class session during this unit to share more information about their roles and areas of focus.
Coming out of their session, students will be empowered to construct (or update) their LinkedIn profile so that they present themselves in the best light for future employers as they look for jobs after graduation. Students will also be equipped to answer tough interview questions in a way that paints a picture for the recruiter and hiring manager of who they are, and why they are the best candidate for the role they want.
Here are the steps students should take to complete this assignment:
- Attend our LIVE class session on Wednesday, February 23rd. More information about adding this to your calendar and joining via Zoom can be found on our Live Sessions page. Be sure to take notes and record what you learn, so that you can complete this unit’s assignment more effectively.
. - Head to LinkedIn.com to sign in if you have already created an account, or to create a new account if you have not signed up yet. This article from the LinkedIn site will help you with this step.
. - Refer to this video and the tips and tricks you learned from Annie Stankevich to make updates and improvements to your LinkedIn profile. If you’re creating a profile for the first time, make sure to fill out all sections that we discussed.
. - Add me as a connection on LinkedIn so I can view your profile. Send me a message along with your request (you’ll be prompted to do this when you click ‘Connect’) and mention your section number for this course.
. - Follow this guide to create a new post and include a link to your LinkedIn profile, and your biggest takeaway from our live session with Annie and Tiffany. Select “LinkedIn” as the post Category. All submissions will populate under the Student Work menu item (Student Work > LinkedIn). Students should review others’ submissions and comment meaningfully (refer to this guide from MMSU for reference) to at least two other students.
As always, if you need more information, you can ask me a question. For information on due dates, check our Course Schedule.
