It’s Our Right
Ruth’s mom taught her to question everything,
It’s funny because I tell myself the same thing.
Each generation becomes more courageous and wiser,
They say knowledge is power,
I say only if you teach others how to rise higher.
Who is anyone to say what we can and cannot do?,
If I was Ruth back then I would have stood just as tall and true.
All it takes is for one person to think, this world is bigger than what I see,
Who said she cannot be he?
As she rose above the naysayers,
She astounded the believers.
Who knew she would be a future leader.
How beautiful for her daughter to witness such a rebellious soul,
She went from mom the bully, to all she wants to know.
Her demeanor ignited curiosity and change began to grow.
Hello Teri,
I enjoyed reading your poem. I liked that you used Ruth to explain your point of view on the movie and compare how you relate to her. You are very talented and I look forward to reading more of your work.
Thank you Talisha Smith. I appreciate your insight.
I dont usually like poems but I had to read this one a couple times because I liked it so much. Anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it. RBG knew this and she went from a woman who no one hire because shes a woman, to being one of the justices on the Supreme Court of the United States. Were all human and we can all do great things. Great work, keep it up.
Thank you Miko Nourelli.
I’m surprised how you handled this assignment. I couldn’t imagine that you could do it through a poem. it’s too much inspiration and innovation. We have all learned from you.
