Equal Rights Assignment

The film On The Basis of Sex is an American biographical legal drama film made in 2018. The film was based on the life events of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Throughout the film, Ginsberg disregarded the notion that women were to stay at home, and either take care of children and work around the house. Ruth Ginsberg was resilient in her approach  to overturn the acceptance of gender discrimination .The movie displays Ruth Ginsburg’s determination in regards to her opposition against gender discrimination and the battles she fights in a heavy populated male domain.

Ruth challenged the acceptance of discrimination by succeeding in her career, which was dominated by men. Despite being overlooked by established law firms and her college colleagues , she continued fighting to make sure her voice wasn’t ignored. Ginsberg’s ultimate goal was to eliminate legal discrimination of sex. In 1970  Ruth took up the case-  Moritz V Commissioner. Mr. Moritz , was rejected from  having a tax deduction for nursing his mother. Ginsberg  fought the case to prove that this was discrimination of sex because women were only sought to be looked upon as caregivers . Evidently, her willpower and demeanor are the factors that later led to the repeal of unfair gender discrimination laws .

Ruth Ginsberg’s efforts paved the way for equality and justice in the United States. Companies, organizations, educational institutions and workplaces are required to have policies that promote equal rights. For example, before getting hired at any of the jobs I worked at companies would introduce their policies during the hiring process in order to prevent any violation of protocol set. The protocols will be established on the basis of legislations  such as the Equal Pay Act of 1963Civil Right Act of 1964 , Age Discrimination Act of 1967, and many more legislation that promote equal treatment. To an extent , companies can hold annual meetings to make sure the standard of equal rights is upheld .That is something that my occupation does to assure that the low count  violations of company protocols. Every year we report to HR and go watch numerous videos that display what is not allowed in the workplace. We would also go over any new polices added under the company’s jurisdiction.

In today’s world , there has been alot of ground gained in the approach to abolish discrimination. Organizations are still creating more rules that encourage equal rights so that employees can feel safe in the workplace. However, Ginsberg constructed a pathway where regardless of gender , equal leverage should be sustained.
