For our Unit 13 Assignment, we will use our new knowledge of global HR management challenges, cultural differences from country to country, and methods for successful employee transfer to review and respond to a case study in this area.
We will examine the Chapter Case for Chapter 14 in this Open Educational Resource, titled Fish To Go Is Going Places. You can find this case in the Section 14.4 Cases and Problems section.
Here are the steps students should take to complete this assignment:
- Read the case study (linked above) and imagine you are an HR manager at Fish To Go.
- Do any additional research you need to do and cite your sources to determine the answers to the questions posed in the case and below (do not worry about the PowerPoint presentation for the Board of Directors; just answer these questions):
- What are the advantages of choosing a host-country national staffing strategy?
- Develop a compensation plan for each of the two countries, revising the current compensation for managers in the United States, if necessary. The compensation plan should include salary, benefits, and any fringe benefits to attract the most qualified people. The plan should also address any legal compensation requirements for both countries.
- Develop an outline for a training plan, making reasonable assumptions about the information a new manager would need to know at Fish to Go.
- Follow this guide to create a new post and include your responses to the following questions. Select “Global HR” as the post Category. All submissions will populate under the Student Work menu item (Student Work > Global HR).
As always, if you need more information, you can ask me a question. For information on due dates, check our Course Schedule.
[When selecting a category, be sure to select a regular Category, NOT a Category Sticky. If you do this incorrectly, you will not see your post in the Student Work > Global HR section. See the image below for more information.]
