What are the advantages of choosing a host-country national staffing strategy?

Choosing a host-country national staffing strategy can be extremely beneficial financially. Using this strategy eliminates the language and culture barrier. Having staff that knows the culture and language provides familiarity to the potential customers. Another benefit to using this strategy is having employees that are familiar with the laws in the country allowing you to avoid fines and violations. Lastly using this strategy, you eliminate the cost of Visa’s, travel cost, and the possible complications of moving an employee’s family.

Develop a compensation plan for each of the two countries, revising the current compensation for managers in the United States, if necessary. The compensation plan should include salary, benefits, and any fringe benefits to attract the most qualified people. The plan should also address any legal compensation requirements for both countries

Below I have a table of restaurant managers and their average salary. Each of the two below would receive full benefits such as medical dental hospital vision and a retirement plan. In addition to these benefits each employee would also receive paid vacation available to them. In the table below I was unable to include UK but because of the cost of living the average salary could vary.  They also have restrictions on gratuity amounts compared to Mexico who wouldn’t have any restrictions.

Develop an outline for a training plan, making reasonable assumptions about the information a new manager would need to know at Fish to Go

The training plan for the restaurant should trainings that all employees can use including lower level and management. The first set of training should be completed before beginning work

  • Food Safety- Training that gives you information on handling food safely
  • Reservation,
  • Serving,
  • Financial Training
  • Cleaning
  • Shift Management Course
  • System Manager

The next set of training should be completed during the probationary period

  • Leadership
  • Customer Service
  • Faculty
  • OEEO

Hello Dimitri, I Loved the summary, your assignment was masterfully done, I’m not sure why I didn’t think of using this layout. I did a whole PowerPoint presentation. Your Advantages of choosing a Host-Country National Strategy is spot on. I would’ve loved to see what you came up with for the U.K. unless the U.S category is a typo. Great display of understanding.

    Whats up Dimitri,
I like that you put uniform allowance as a fringe benefit. Thats something i didnt think of. I also liked how you displayed your training plan before beginning work and during probationary period. Great submission!

    Hello Dimitri,
I agree with the advantages presented by Jones and that choosing a host country staffing strategy can be extremely advantageous. Some of these benefits are obvious including elimination of language and culture barriers. In addition, there is familiarity with various business aspects such as laws and regulations, customer demands, among other significant things about the new business scene. From a financial point of view however, one cannot overlook the various upsides of having a host country national staffing strategy and Dimitri has provided excellent points on this including lack of visa costs, and travel cost among many other complications associated with moving an employee and family to work in a different country. In essence, the benefits of this strategy are extensive and cannot all be covered in a single discussion. Moreover, the compensation plan provides a clear picture of what would be attractive to potential workers such as salary and other benefits. However, the compensation plan shows information for only US and Mexico thereby disregarding UK which is the second country the business is supposed to expand to. About training plan, the two sets of training are a good idea especially for a new business planning to operate in different environment.
