Retention Assignment

What do you think is the most demotivating part of Harper’s job?

The most demotivating part of Harper’s is that the prior boss she gets along with really well left the job and her new one gives her less time to help her prioritize her work and doesn’t realize that she is stressed out because ever since her first boss left she has taken on more and responsibilities and because of this she doesn’t feel like she is being recognized for her hard work.

If you were an HR manager meeting with Harper’s supervisor, David, what advice would you give to help them re-engage Harper?

If i was HR I would tell David to make sure the employees feel comfortable communicating with each other and to make sure that each employee feels valued this will build trust and can make Harper feel more confident in talking/asking for help whenever a conflict arises and if Harper decides to mention anything about her work load I would recommend him to help her out while also looking for someone who can do her extra work.

  • What would be the downside of losing Harper as an employee?

The downside of losing Harper as an employee is that the company would loose an employee who truly loves her job and who is willing to sacrifice and all that extra work that she was doing for her previous boss and hers will fall onto someone else and they will be more behind.

The Founder Assignment

What makes Ray kroc different from the mcdonald brothers is that the brothers value their customers and gave quality services meanwhile Ray Kroc only cares about filling his pockets and achieving his business goals

I think that it wasn’t a good idea for the McDonalds to sell to Ray Kroc because even tho it’s made them a lot of money in the end they vision that they had for their company and what Ray had was completely different and made them unsatisfied.

local store franchisees made their money through the sale of McDonald’s merchandise at retailers.

Ray Kroc made money by having stores pay a percent of their sales as franchise expenses to the McDonald’s corporation. He made cash earning a percent of the sales from every franchise They would pay the franchise fee, a percentage of their sales, and also their rent to Kroc or McDonald’s corporation but he also expanded the his business but opening new stores.

Honestly after watching the film it didn’t change my mind on how I view McDonalds.

Ethics Assignment

The company I choose is Ben and Jerry’s, it is a company that manufactures ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet. Founded in May 5, 1978 in Burlington, Vermont started off as an ice cream parlor to a multinational brand in a couple decades with the founders being Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield. Ben and Jerry is dedicated to human rights and to preserve the natural environment

Ben and Jerry’s persevere the environment by reducing their carbon footprint by lessening their waste and promote renewable electricity sources. Their company plans to use 100% renewable energy and reduce their emissions by 40% by 2025 right now a single Ben and jerry’s produce about 3.4 pounds of carbon dioxide. Ben and also looks closely after their farmers and the wellbeing of their cows. They have Global animal partnership (GAP) who make sure each cow is healthy and well cared for

Ben and Jerry’s advocates for human rights and honest labor practices they are “the very first dairy buyer to adopt the Milk with Dignity program, an independent farmworker-led human rights standard for working conditions on dairy farms, on farms in the Northeast US. And for farmers’ participation in the Caring Dairy program and Milk with Dignity program, we pay them additional money, so it’s a win-win for everyone.” Ben and Jerry’s also “support grassroots groups throughout the U.S. and its territories that are led by the people most impacted by the legacies of white supremacy culture as they organize for racial equity, and social and environmental justice.” The glass root group “center the leadership and collective action of Black communities, Indigenous communities, and communities of color in their efforts to build movements to dismantle oppressive and discriminatory systems toward a more just and inclusive world.”

After researching about Ben and Jerry”s I’ve realized that there isn’t much I would do to change I think the company is already on the right path. what I would recommend is that they try to expand their glass roots outside of Vermont and try to influence other companies or people to join them or do something similar by like having ad campaigns or have workshops that makes it easier for people and companies to be more informed and possibly more willing to join them.
