The Founder

  1. What makes Ray Kroc and the brothers different from each other?

Ray Kroc and the McDonald brothers are different in their beliefs of ethics. Ray Kroc is someone who only really cares about profit and a hugely successful business while the McDonald brothers only really want to deliver good quality and honesty to their customers. If anything, the brothers are starting this business as a hobby and as something more they enjoy and want to do while Ray Kroc only sees it as a way to make money regardless of the methods he uses.

  1. Do you think the McDonald’s brothers did the right thing by selling out to Ray Kroc? Did Ray Kroc give the brothers a good deal?

I think the McDonald brothers did the right thing in the reality timeline but not in the “The Founders” movie by selling out to Ray Kroc. Ray Kroc only gave the brothers a good deal in reality as the brothers still received a percentage of the financial profits. Without Ray Kroc’s greediness and businessman tendencies, McDonald’s would have never skyrocketed in success. It’s with his mind and creations of standardizing items and good marketing that it is doing well. The brothers alone would’ve just allowed the business to be a good restaurant in one area and not a widespread business known everywhere. The profits are worth it to the brothers and would be considered a good deal in the real world but in the movie, the brothers were completely bought out.

  1. How did the local store franchisees make money?

The local store franchises made money through the profits of the opened store in the area using the name McDonalds which is already known for how good it is.

  1. How did Kroc make money? How was that different than the franchisees, running the local stores?

Kroc made money from the original franchise fee and then ongoing royalty fees for using the brand name. The franchises running the store are making money selling products and whatever they earn, they give a percentage to Kroc for allowing them to use the Mcdonald’s name.

  1. Does this film change your view of McDonald’s?

This film didn’t really change my view of Mcdonald’s but it made me realize that every Mcdonald’s in the city is just owned by some random person who is essentially purchasing the usage of Mcdonald’s from the owners. Mcdonald’s has always had messed up ethics but most the time every successful company has messed up ethics.
