The first company that popped out from my head when it comes into stuff that I really look into it was Adidas. Every time I talk about shoes, the first brand that always I check regularly was this brand without any hesitation especially during the new release specific type of shoes such as Adidas Samba or maybe Yeezy that has been discontinued earlier this year.
Adidas is one of some giant companies that sells many apparels and also footwear for daily-use or maybe exercise equipment. But there are many companies that compete the market since we all know that every-day basis wear is really a thing nowadays and these brands are really showing off their greatness of their products with its unique way. However, there are plenty of controversies happening out there due to the leftovers of the production residue that harm the environment. The company itself has deployed so many steps in order to keep this as a way to fix the issue while in the meantime, also provides the necessity of what market needs. So now, I would like to share some steps on how the company carries out the problem and take it as a commitment to sustain the environment.
Adidas is a renowned for their commitment to reduce their carbon footprint by taking the initiative to do the innovation such as The Climate Pledge, which targeting for net-zero carbon emissions by the year 2040. They have spent so many times in researches just to generate a new method of production and also designs to reform as a part of supporting the project. For example, until today, Adidas has reached their personal peak best of 96% of recycled polyester as a proof of their success. This is to say that there are so many changes that has been made in order to reach this stage. The changes were such as changing the materials into the virgin fossil-based materials, making the life extension of the products so the customer could wear it for longer period of time, and also provide carbon footprint details for each product.
Now, they also have served so many supporting events to support the program while inviting the people to join the mission as part of the humanity service that helps to support the earth. I believe by creating new innovation specifically into more environmentally friendly materials would also help the project to reach the goals of net-zero carbon in 2040. However, some critics also suggest that Adidas might be focusing on distant goals rather than deciding immediate goals to be the leader of sustainable company in general of manufacturing and also the longstanding of its company in this field of industry.
In conclusion, I believe by doing the steps on each progression would lead into the better sustainable company as soon as possible, instead of doing zero progress for years. The project of net-zero carbons emissions by 2040 will be easily achieved if these companies also join and participate into it and together will bring to the greater end of result later.
