In Unit 12: Introduction to Human Resources, we will explore the HR function and seek to understand the importance, structure, and responsibilities of Human Resources. There are several aspects of HR we will identify and discuss: staffing, training and professional development, safety, benefits & compensation, diversity & inclusion, and employee and labor relations — we already learned a bit about employee relations when we discussed Ethics earlier in the semester.
We will dig into legislation that affects employees at all levels in the US, how HR representatives manage workforces and their ever-changing needs, and help employees feel safe and appreciated at work. Ultimately, HR is focused on an organization’s most important assets (or, resources): it’s humans!
