Retention Assignment Example

    • Harper feels as though her contributions aren’t being recognized, which is quite damaging to her morale to engage in her work. Sure, her increased workload, and lack of boss to go to for any problems is quite demotivating as well. However, in the end, if all her effort, time, and work isn’t truly appreciated. Then she will feel as though Marketable Inc. has failed her, she will feel as though doing the work is completely pointless. Which led her to believe it was best to move on from Marketable Inc. to another company. 

 

    • Strategies 5, 6, and  7 best apply if I were an HR manager giving advice to David, Harper’s supervisor. Harper who is overworked and undervalued will eventually lose all motivation and ability to continue her work. David must not only reevaluate Harper’s workload to reduce the possibility of burnout and restore her work/life balance. But also to allow her to regain her motivation and desire to continue her work. Lets not forget, properly valuing Harper’s contributions to Marketable Inc. Yes, David is quite busy, however that isn’t an excuse to ignore the effort and time people like Harper make in order to keep the company operating properly. Harper must be properly rewarded for her contributions, she needs to feel good about the work she is completing. Especially since her workload has increased.

 

    • If Harper were to leave Marketable Inc. the impact may cause a domino effect. This is because other employees will eventually know the truth of why Harper left, how she was treated, and how she felt invisible. The others may think, “If it happened to her, it may happen to me as well, do I want to be treated like that as well?” It will send ripples through the company, leading employees to question whether they matter to the company or not. Losing Harper will also lead to another empty position within Marketable Inc. and someone else must now take an increase in workload to compensate for Harper’s absence, along with her prior boss Jose. This will lead to another overburdened employee(s), which will lead to decreased productivity and plummeting motivation to continue working. The foundation of Marketable Inc. is already compromised, any further damage to such a foundation, will lead to larger and more damaging effects and losses. Which Marketable Inc. wont be able to handle, which can possibly lead to the company slowly collapsing. 

The Founder Assignment Example

  1. Dick and Mac, who wanted to focus on quality and standards. Chose to play it safe, to not expand, to focus on their singular location in California. While Kroc, eager to expand and grow, though differently. He only saw progress, growth and the future. You could say the Brothers were stuck in the past, while Kroc focused on the future. What made the two forces fundamentally different is one force wanted to focus on steady performance, while the other wanted to progress at an immense pace. And that’s what cost the brothers everything in the end, they were too focused on morality and ethics, they missed how desperate and power hungry Kroc was. 
  2. At the point at which they were at, the brothers were left no other options. They neither had the power, nor resources or connections to fight against Kroc. And Kroc could have fully screwed over the brothers, but gave them the opportunity to name their price and cut a deal. It wasn’t a matter if it was the right thing to sell out to Kroc, it was really the only option the brothers were left with. And in the end, it was a pretty good deal at the time, sadly however. Since the brothers couldn’t prove the authenticity of their deal with Kroc after he died. They weren’t able to get everything out of the deal they made with Kroc. 
  3. Kroc, who was buying the land needed to build the franchisees, would lease that land to couples who he signed a contract with. The contract included being paid 4% of the monthly sales made by the franchisee, as well as the monthly rental fee for the leased land. 
  4. Like mentioned before, Kroc would own the land required to build a franchisee. By leasing said land to those who wish to open up a franchisee, Kroc was able to collect a portion of the sales, from the lease contract. 
  5. Not necessarily, I’m not saying I’m experienced in the world of business. However I would assume that integrity and morality would work against you. Especially when working with those like Kroc, power hungry and looking solely on the future. It’s clear the world of business is unforgiving to those who play it safe and focus on the smaller picture, like the brothers. At the end of the day big businesses like McDonald’s weren’t built by those who were filled with moral integrity. They were built by those who sought cold hard harsh progress. And sure you could say men like Kroc are evil for what they did, but he was able to win, because he understood what was needed to survive in the world of business. And what would that be? Self interest and selfishness. Overall my perspective on McDonald’s hasn’t really been altered by this film, I’d still happily enjoy my cheeseburger and fries and coke, any day of the week.

Ethics Assignment Example

Sandwiches, chips, and freshly baked cookies, such things are what represent Subway. Known for its accessibility and affordability, Subway has grown to a machine that is spread across the globe. Though its size comes with a considerable number of concerns, concerns of labor, carbon emissions, health and hygiene, and product quality. Luckily, Subway is well aware of these concerns, and is taking proper steps to ensure it’s quality as a business remains at peak condition. 

However, the focus of this assignment is more of the community itself. For the community is essentially the foundation that businesses can utilize to grow and expand. Which is why Subway offers a restaurant franchise model, which allows individuals to open up a Subway. Not only does the individual in question learn about business in general, but jobs and other opportunities are created, which lead to economic stimulation. To add on, it doesn’t matter who are where you’re from, Subway welcomes any and all into its business. That sense of diversity pushes for a more flexible and evolving work environment. The “Subway Cares Foundation”, a non-profit separate from Subway, is the organization that comes to the aid of those who suffer from hardships. Whether it’s food for the unfortunate, lending support during natural disasters or charity work. The foundation is ready to assist where it can. 

It’s clear Subway cares about its communities, from what I’ve seen Subway has created a solid method of reaching out and supporting the communities around them. However that doesn’t mean it’s easy, these issues are very sensitive, approaching them incorrectly or carelessly could backfire. Yet Subway seems to have a very good grasp of the situation, and the solutions that will resolve these concerns. I can’t recommend much on the community effort that Subway is a part of. Expansion will be key, while Subway has much influence and worldly reach, it isn’t the biggest entity in it’s respected field. It’s also important to note that too much expansion is to be avoided. Maintaining these programs, and expanding on them should be the approach. Education is also vital, educating people about business, job opportunities, opportunities for growth, nutrition related education, among other aspects that will grow Subway’s social influence. 

It’s clear Subway is more than just a Sandwich chain. They are aid lenders, job creators, breakers of old outdated ideologies, health and food experts, among other roles. Subway seems to be looking to expand beyond the normal functions of what a business represents, to go beyond offering a product or service. From what I’ve learned, Subway seems to be doing quite well at improving the communities around them.
