The author gives you the choice of reading the books in whichever order you please, giving you freedom to put the pieces of the story together like a puzzle. Each of these books are easy to read vocabulary wise. The books themselves do not have lengthy and difficult words, making it easy to read. The author in this book uses extreme details to hook the reader. They describe everything in detail helping you to really get engaged in the book and envision yourself in it like a movie playing right in front of you. It also gives you a chance to really connect with each character. From the very beginning of this book, it starts off with a twist of betrayal, righteousness, and another twist all in the first few pages quickly drawing you in from the start with all the twists. You never know what will happen with how it keeps you on your toes.
At the beginning of the book, it starts off with the main character the princess lost her mother, and the castle fell into a saddened state. Soon her father, the king of the kingdom, forced the king her mother was from to marry another person from that kingdom. So, to keep the alliance the king had to marry her mother’s sister as he needed a queen. The new queen Irina used magic just like the princess and taught her how to use that power since she and the queen were the only two who could use magic. She also lifted everyone’s spirits until it was discovered by the princess that the new queen was controlling everyone with magic. Soon the princess used what she learned to undo the spell and confront the queen. Once everyone was free from the spell they apprehended the queen. Usually this is where the reader may think that they have won, and everything will be okay, but a twist happens, and the queen uses a burst of magic and gets free. She then went after the princess, but the king jumped in to try to fight her but was sadly killed and his dying wish was for the princess to protect her brother. After which the princess told the guard to take her brother away and she tried to fight the queen but found that she was no match for her in her current novice state. As the queen knocked a pillar on the princess from the debris the very guard saved the princess she told to take the prince away. The guard convinced her to run with him away and the fall fled the castle with the queen thinking they were dead. The princess, the prince, the guard, and the princess’s companion, a bird, are all now on a journey to take back their kingdom secret. They steal from the queen to give to the people as to get them on their side while also training the princess in her magic to one day defeat the queen and restore their kingdom. All while trying not to get caught by the queen that they are indeed alive.
