Yang, “A Theory of Asian Immigration to the United States” This is a long article — focus your attention on pages 1-2 (so you can understand the goal of the piece) and pages 11-28.

As you read, consider the following questions:

  • Why does Yang argue for a a theory of Asian immigration to the United States? What does he think is missing in existing theories?
  • What are the three clusters of factors that he thinks we need to look at to understand how/why Asian migration to the U.S. occurs?

    • How do these explanations compare to the theory that Yang puts forth?
    • Are there other “clusters of factors” that you would add to Yang’s theory?
