In Bao Phi’s article, he pointed out police brutality, and many Asian Americans are facing issues such as the “Black Death”. But this means that they belong to the weak side. This will not have any protective effect at all, and the police will not protect Asian Americans like white people.

According to Kate Zen’s article, he pointed out that what Chinese conservatism has learned is white conservatism, which defends a wrong person. Because Chinese conservatives are mainly on the side of the victims.

The main purpose of this letter is to support the black people who were innocently killed by the police without being treated fairly. Everyone’s life is equal.

I will choose “Coronavirus&Yellow Peril” by Amanda Yee as my framework. Here, the question that arises is about the coronavirus that occurred in China. When I read this excerpt, I found that most reporters have already commented on this The virus itself has serious prejudices. However, China’s slowly starting economic recovery stimulated the nerves of Western countries, which led to those ignorant comments. For the story, I chose Alice Tsui’s “Tired”. During this period, in Western society China started targeting Asians, and they started verbal attacks. For resources, I chose “Wash your hands” by Malaka Ghairab. This is a way to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

In Kimberly Yam’s article “The Forgotten Asian Refugees Fed Into The U.S. Prison System”, the author wrote about Trump’s hegemonic enforcement of ICE during his inauguration as the President of the United States. In the article, ICE arrested many refugees in South Asia. These refugees were then deported from the country. These convictions may give these refugees a very painful choice. Because if they are deported, they will once again face those countries that have suffered hegemony. I think this may change the fate of many people.

In the “The racial triangulation of Asian America” and “Excerpt of Prashad The karma of brown folk” we read this week, we can know that “model minority” is discussing that Asian Americans are smarter than Americans. The term first appeared in 1960 because the United States was looking for technical personnel from most Asian countries to immigrate to the United States to provide technical support to the United States. But this idea has a derogatory meaning. In the video we watched, we can clearly see the discrimination and prejudice of the American Ivy League against Asian students.

In my personal opinion, we must discard these stereotyped influences, because on the surface it seems to be a compliment to an ethnic group, but in reality, these will make these ethnic groups suffer discrimination and prejudice. Because it is impossible that this ethnic group are all geniuses, and in addition, regardless of whites, African Americans, can be top in a certain field. So these are very unfair.

In my reading and film this week, I learned about the criteria for citizenship. To be precise, I also heard that Americans are xenophobic. In comparison, the United States treats European immigrants and immigrants from other regions except European immigrants with obvious differences. If you are a European immigrant, because your skin color is white. You may be assimilated in the American mind, but if you are not from Europe or your skin color is not white, you will never become a citizen. No matter how long you live in the United States. In other words, it is far easier for European whites to become citizens than other skin colors, and other immigrants will be required to test their loyalty.

For me, citizenship is an identity. It includes the contribution that the country needs to the society, such as tax payment, medical care, education, etc., which can be used in priority to foreigners. Military judges and others are regarded as part of the United States. They belong to those who serve the United States and put American interests first.

1. The main reason why American society excludes Chinese immigrants from living in the United States is restricted to enjoy normal citizenship rights because of American racial discrimination. Because Americans feel that they cannot convert Chinese into real Americans, because their skin color and culture are different, in fact, even if Asians obtain citizenship in the United States, they are considered second-class citizens.

2. The Chinese community strongly disagrees with this. They feel that it is very unfair, because schools and other places have prejudice against the Chinese, but they still need to pay taxes and other obligations like Americans. But they can’t get the same treatment. Their solution was to petition the government for a segregation bill prohibiting Chinese children from attending public schools.

3. These events have a very serious impact on the current society. It can be said that why there is racial discrimination in society now can be said to be caused by these incidents. Asian Americans are disadvantaged groups. On Coronavirus, we can see how serious the American society’s prejudice against the Chinese people. Even today’s American President still calls it “Chinese Virus” or “China Virus” in his speeches even when the United Nations has named the virus as Coronavirus. It is conceivable that racial discrimination has never been erased in the American dictionary.

4. After reading this week’s material, I feel very ridiculous. Because racial discrimination has always existed in the United States, some Americans call the United States a country of freedom under the law. I think this is the self-hypnosis of Americans. They can eliminate the race that has occupied American for centuries by using the law. It is a joke that everyone is equal. If this is the case, there will be no “black life matter” and no African Americans will be shot dead by the police. The president will not use discriminatory names in his speeches.

I think our course is going well. I hope that students can share more of their or their family’s experience. After all, everyone’s experience is different for immigrant families. In addition, I hope the professor can post more videos to help me understand the situation of Asian Americans at that time.

In addition, I don’t have song recommendations, and I am not very proficient in songs.

I was watching the video “A Conversation with Asian Americans on Race”. I think that in American society, it is common for Americans to be white. Americans of other skin colors, such as Asian Americans and African Americans, will be labeled In some words, Americans with only white skin will be called Americans directly. In the video, I was surprised when an Indian-American was called by a little white girl that her skin color was something disgusting. In my opinion, the reason for racism in American society comes from the establishment of the country, when slavery prevailed, although this system has now been abolished. But this may be the reason for the construction of the current ethnic society.

In addition, in the documentary, in my personal opinion. No matter who you are, everything depends on your skin color. As long as your skin color is white or light, then you will have some “privileges.” But if your skin color is darker, then you will be considered to be at the bottom of society without any rights or human rights. In my opinion, as long as you are not white American, you will be more or less discriminated against by others in American society because of your skin color. There are many people who do not understand the United States and think that the United States is a place where there is no racial discrimination, but they are people who want to live in American society. They understand that discrimination still exists today.

I am in an immigrant family, and sometimes I do not understand why my family chooses to immigrate to the United States. My parents told me that they chose to come to the United States because they wanted me and my sister to get a better education. It is well known that the education in the United States is better than other countries. Of course, my parents also want more job opportunities. But when I was watching some movies or videos, I found that people in many countries chose to immigrate because of war or persecution, and this also occupies a large proportion.

According to Yang’s description, people from other countries immigrated to the United States mainly because of natural disasters, population pressure, economic difficulties in their country of origin, political turmoil or interference, environmental disadvantages and other reasons.

I will add “clusters of factors” in Yang’s article because many countries do not allow gay marriage, so these people may choose to immigrate. In addition, the issue of religion belongs to a large ethnic group. So these can be factors for their immigration.
