That phi point about Asian American relationship with the police is political maneuvering and also police violence is caused by playing a role in the system and taught the only way of survival. That the goal is understanding that the system is corrupted and needed change.
That’s in the Chinese conservatism from the article by Zen the response from other Chinese community member needed the NYPD to protect them because of black on Asian violence where one accident where black people sprayed Febreze on Asian man because of Covid 19 out break.
That the goal of the letter is to help us understand why are these things happened and how we can change it. Yes this letter meets the goals because it show what neded to be change and what is bad for this community.

That this week I learned that if you’re a refugee in the United States of America you can still be deported. Also doing crime can very affect your impact of getting deported. That’s very cruel because on YouTube it shows the father leaving the family and being deported back to Cambodia. That family reunion is not going to happen and change how they live. Also, a question I have is why is he deported if he has a family that is American.

That model minority myth comes from characterizing Asian Americans as a polite, law-abiding group that has achieved a higher level of success than the general population. In “The Racial Triangulation of Asian Americans,” it talks about how Asian American and White people conflict over education, jobs, and businesses. That the myth is reproduced. That is affirmative action they wanted to get something out of it in the court and used fake information to get something better out of how others look at you. That in conversation it talks about different topics about making something higher and on race and jobs.

I learned that from the 1930s to 1950s Japanese Americans were in internment camps where they weren’t allowed to do what they want and the way they were treated wasn’t like citizens and are kinda familiar to slaves back then. They were required to follow the rules of the united states. In the film, it talks about if they didn’t follow the rules they will be an arrest, violence, attacks, murder, separation, and discrimination.
I think in today’s world who live and work in the United States are citizens. Anyone can be a citizen in the United States of America. To be here we are apart of this country and having freedom. That citizenships are not only being a person it means having the freedom to do things that are your privilege.

There are some arguments made that the Chinese were different and came from a foreign land and the way they look. That is the video Carved in Silence shows propaganda of Chinese people came to the united state because of gold but also the western expansion of the railroad, working in the fields, and working in the fishing industries. Also because of the depression, the Americans made the Chinese exclusion act that doesn’t allow Chinese immigrants to come to the united states. Chinese people couldn’t.
That the Chinese communities came up with a strategy where the cooks for the angel island put secret messages underneath the dishes they serve to the people in prison. I don’t want history to repeat itself and we need to realize what is for us a generation where people could be treated respectfully without there skin color. Yes, there might be some connection because of how people treat each other cause of there skin color where it happened in the news where president Trump blames Chinese people because of Covid-19. That I was shocked were in the video it talks about how much Angle Island has an impact on Chinese American where they suffer so much to come to the united state and to live here.

In this class, there are many things that are interesting to learn, such as how Asian Americans come to South America and other parts of the world and settling down and live. Also, this class is a very engaging class where it’s on different topics that no one talks about. One thing that I would like to change is doing classwork on time and planning out every week using my free time.

This week I learned a lot about race and from the videos “ Race: the Power of an Illusion Episode 2” the video talks about how the United States become a country and explain about race from the beginning of slavery, where there were no slaves and becoming more hungry for land. Also becoming more aggressive white Americans forcing the Cherokee to leave their homes and leaving their land. Also, it talks about the philosophy of manifest destiny where the West belongs to the white American. A very interesting piece in the video talks about enslaved or free African Americans who couldn’t become citizens in the United States in the 1850s. Adding on to this I also watched “ A Conversation with Asian Americans on Race”. Where this video talks about Asian Americans and other communities how they are treated differently and by knowing this it shares what is an American in America.
I can understand how people feel when they are mistreated from what race they are to where they are from. And I think that is a huge problem because around the world a lot of people ask where you’re from? , Are you born in this country, etc.

That Yang argue that Immigration and experience after migrant. That there are other factors that can cause one to move to the United states. Yang claims that push-pull theory, balancing theory, world structure theory, social network theory, and other current hypotheses are not reliable and have shortcomings. In his article, he points out that they lack the description of both historical and current flows and would make little sense in the various circumstances of people.
The common explanation of why people migrate is to have a better life and discover a place that can help them improve what they need. For example, finding a job and making money to buy food for the family. Also, there are many more reasons why people migrate to other countries because of problems like war, government issues that aren’t good for living, things that are related to money issues that couldn’t help their families. Also an example from the movie “The karate kid” by Jaden smith and Jackie chan. Where in the beginning the family moved from the United States to China because the company the mother was working for moved back to china so the family too. That the theories Yang have are similarly related because the example I provided was the movie where the mom moved because of work. No, I can’t think of any cluster or factor in Yang’s theories.

- That the European view Asia likes a place that is truly the polar opposite from the west. Their impression of Asian was to describe bizarre creatures, alien plants, and strange customs of the east. And define Asia as the other world. The story of Marco polo where it talks about the Mongolian leader having unique customs, mountain streams of the diamond, and so many golds and silver that you could believe existed. The thing that motivated the Spanish were the quote “god, gold, and glory”. Also, the growth of taste demands more imports such as silk, sugar, and other spices. That the Philippines was the seat of the Spain pacific empire because the Spanish found the island and conquest in 1565. The first migrant from Asia to America was Filipino. That the Filipino arrived because they are crewmembers and also was involved in the Manila galleon trade; they arrived on ships that were on a voyage. The Los chinos were of the Asian descent who was married to the locals. That they settle on the pacific coast and cities of Acapulco. The biggest reason they wanted to move to the Americas was that they thought that there was hope and hope for a better existence, which is an irony that Europeans feel the same way about Asia’s society as well. Unfortunately, instead of negotiating with them, they wanted to try to invade Asia because Europe found them different than others.
- These immigrant reports back then vary significantly from what we learn of immigrants now, because back then people may come and live without any complications, but now, as soon as the government and ICE find out about any undocumented migrants or citizens who have overstayed, they put them in cages and isolate them from those who love them without fair court trials. The reasons I believe that these things have shifted are because of egoism, that the United States should not “rob its work” towards other nations.
