I really liked your presentation. I liked the older pictures you posted such as the pictures of New York from the 50’s. Also I like how you said you kept your library card, it’s wholesome to see how you are sentimental of something that may be small, but still holds so much meaning.
This is a really nice archive on your life. I loved how you made something as simple as the library card have a great effect on your life and settling in Brooklyn when you reached America. Also, I can see you care much for family and helping each other try to get used to America and moving forward even though things were hard.
Like everyone else has said, I love the inclusion of your library card. I also feel really passionately about local libraries and attribute a lot of where I am today to them! They mean so much to many other people as well and are such an amazing resource of knowledge, opportunity, social services, a place to belong/socialize, etc. I recognize the monument you pictured in one of the slides as well… I want to say it’s Grand Army Plaza? Near Prospect Park & Flatbush! It’s really interesting to hear about your grandma’s immigration there since I’ve not had a lot of time to reflect about how the dominantly Black neighborhood came to be. I also commend you and your family on your immigration struggles, I imagine it must have been difficult, especially as a single parent for your mother. Such a great job!!
