I think completing the assignments and showing up on time to Zoom is going well. I would like to changed maybe having more modern videos about Asian Americans. More Asian American movies begin shown as well as more documentaries about them in other settings of the world, even though this class is supposed to be about Asian Americans in America. A song I would add would be Twice – Fancy, the reason is because the group is a K-pop girl group that has members from three different countries and also the song is catchy.
Hey Kai,
I am glad this class is going well for you. I agree with you on the point of more Asian American movies and documentaries. Although I said I would not change anything in the class, this suggestion seems like it could happen. I was more intrigued listening to and discussing the experiences of different Asian Americans from various parts of Asia. Also, your song choice is cool. The second language to learn in my middle school was Korean not Spanish, so I used to listen to Girls Generation (K-pop group) all the time.
I feel quite surprised and funny to know you listen to K-pop music too, I find it cute. Thank you for your sharing!
Hey Kai,
I agree with you on having more modern Asian American movies because so many people know about the reach of Asian culture, specifically K-Pop and if we were to bring in such things, I feel more people were to come out of their shell. Especially in Breakout Rooms where everyone is usually so shy, understandably so.
Hey Kai,
Yeah, more modern Video and document would be nice. and K-pop song is nice too.
Hi Kai,
I certainly agree that more modern Asian American videos will help us to understand the past and present conditions of Asian Americans throughout the world. Also, I did not listen to K-pop songs much and I think I should give it a try.
Great suggestion, Kai– and we will get there! The first weeks of the semester help to set a foundation for us but we will be moving into more “modern” history soon. I added your suggestion to the playlist- feel free to send me more ideas. I do need a K-pop tutorial + it looks like there are several people in this class who can give me one!
