Kahli Hodzic DB3

Many Asians immigrate to the United States of America for a better life. I know my Indian/Pakistani great grandfather had a hard life coming here and being ostracized by American people. This is mainly due to the push and pull factors, the push factors being, forces of nature, overpopulation, moral ethics, dangers to the people and the ecosystem. The pull factor being the positive counterpart vice-versa, getting people out of poverty by getting more money, helping nature and making good political decisions for the citizens and the nation. Gaining freedom, justice, truth, honor and liberty.

When coming to the American country many Asians feel they need to assimilate as much as possible to be able to fit in and be accepted and not be discriminates against. In Asian countries being LGBTQIA+ is looked down upon and the USA is more accepting of people who are not heterosexual and are not expected to fall under such category. Uighur Muslims in China are being tortured, detained, raped and killed and as a man who is black, white, Asian and Muslim I am deeply disturbed and disgusted by this Islamophobia.

  1. Hello, I read it your DB # 3 part very good. And one thing that I feel I can understand and agree with is in America will have a better life. What’s more, when in America people have more modern thinking. Like accepting LGBT!

  2. Hey Kahli,

One of the reasons I believe people get ostracized is because others do not understand them. As you mentioned “dangers to the people” which speaks to some people in America who are fearful and do not bother to understand others. As you mentioned so many Asian countries look down upon LGBTQIA+ and to me that is despicable. In my home country of the Philippines, they look down upon the LGBTQIA+ and it is a primarily Catholic country so it goes against the faith of the majority of the country. It is despicable since they always stick to the old ways without thinking of being progressive or following the standard norms of today’s society. Finally, it is disheartening and awful that in China they’re making these internment camps and doing all sorts of horrible things to these Uyghur Muslims followed by world leaders ignoring the pleas of their people to respond and do something about this humanitarian crisis.
