Hi Class,
I hope all is well and I am very enthusiastic to continue our discussions throughout the semester. My name is Nina I was born and raised here in Brooklyn, NY to an Immigrant father (Panama) and a half black half white mother. I am also a full-time multi media artist in Brooklyn. Art basically encapsulates my life and I find myself being inspired by many things most of them macabre. My friends would probably describe me as that one goth chick whose music taste matches her clothes but not her personality (yes, I am a major metal head but also listens to kpop) who does art all the time but when I am not painting, photographing or illustrating you can find me hiking along the Appalachian (Blue Ridge Mountains). I have always been interested in studies on cultures separate from my own and I anticipate learning about how different people with roots along the continent of Asia travel through life here in America and also how they honor culture here in America. I’m very excited to learn more.
Hi Nina, what would be your favorite place to travel to ?
Hi Kai, by far my favorite place is Burnsville/Asheville, North Carolina (Specifically the Blue Ridge Park Way up onto Mount Mitchell). I hike there frequently. Runner up would be Pilot Mountain in Surrey,NC. If we are talking places I haven’t been to in the United States then for sure Mount Rainer up in Alaska and hopefully when I build up the endurance Mount Denali! Internationally I would love to travel to Chiriqui, Panama and view Volcan Baru.
I also live in Brooklyn and you also like art hope to see your work
Hi Yvenson, I hope we can exchange art at sometime and discuss it as well!
Thank you, Nina, for sharing a little about yourself! I’m eager for our discussions this semester. + The last stage of the research project involves creative methods and it may be an opportunity for you to bring in some of your art practice.
