Combining Effects of Doxorubicin and Forskolin On Neuroblastoma Cells

Name: Andrew Elvir

Mentor: Jane Tezapsidis

Abstract: Doxorubicin is a type of chemotherapy drug known as an Anthracycline. It helps slow the proliferation of tumors by inhibiting topoisomerase. Forskolin is a Diterpene that is produced by the roots of Coleus Forskohlii, which is a plant that grows in South Asia.Physiologically, Forskolin raises intracellular cAMP levels by directly activating adenylate cyclase. Using these chemotherapeutic drugs produce many different side effects that are detrimental for human health and quality of life. Doxorubicin and Forskolin produce different side effects, by combining these two powerful agents we will try to find a minimal dosage to administer to reduce damaging side effects while still being affective.
