Current Research News

Hi all
I hope  you and your family are safe and healthy. With all these changes to instruction, being cooped in the house and the stress of the virus – I can understand if you have no bandwidth for extra stuff.
However, if you have time now to start thinking about your scholarship or applying for grants, do reach out and we can try to help. The office of research is organizing zoom events/workshops for setting your research agenda, critiquing/feedback on your scholarly work/grants and grants 101. Go to the CETLS calendar (https://cetls.bmcc.cuny.edu/ ) for more information. But as always, feel free to reach out to me at sramakrishnan@bmcc.cuny.edu
  1. Attached are a few documents that RF put together regarding opportunities for research around COVID.
One is for Science and Soc Science and the other is for Arts and Humanities.
2. ASRC is hosting a webinar April 7 at 2pm. around COVID funding and you need to register.
3. All Tax Levy funds will be spent as per usual – there is no provision at the moment for any kind of extension. In that vein we are moving most of the non-personnel costs to personnel in the CRSP funds so that we can pay  summer salaries of PIs in the program.
4. There is a possibility that PSC-CUNY funding from 2018-19 will have a no-cost extension. We will let you know when that information comes out. At the moment we do not have more information on the 2019-20 PSC CUNY awards.
5. At BMCC no one is allowed on campus at the moment unless you are essential personnel. So please do not ask students to work in labs. We will be giving them instructions shortly on what they can do for BARS. Students who were receiving stipends, will continue to receive them.
For latest advisory on CUNY policy for research continuity check http://www.cuny.edu/research/covid-19-research-continuity/
6. If you have external funding – PLEASE reach out to your program officers. Below is some more information from NIH.
