Welcome to POL 100 (0504) – SPRING 2026 semester!

Dear Students Welcome to This Semester!

Welcome to our class, I look forward to studying American politics together this semester!

Communicating with me:
There are two ways to reach me, details are outlined here.

Here’s our agenda for our first week of classes:

IMPORTANTAll class modules are openly accessible on the Internet. You do NOT need a password or an OpenLab account to read assigned materials, nor do you need a password or an account, to submit exams and reading response papers.

However, you DO NEED an OpenLab account, and you DO NEED to add yourself to this website, in order to submit DISCUSSION BOARD assignments (and to complete practice quizzes). For guidance on how to join the BMCC OpenLab and to add yourself to this class website (which is part of the BMCC OpenLab), see point 2 below (click on the “Getting Started” link). If you encounter any trouble in the sign-up process, email me at: aartinian@bmcc.cuny.edu

Also, if you are having trouble logging into BMCC, try these instructions as well: https://openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu/blog/help/how-to-sign-up-and-log-in-to-bmcc-openlab-students-staff-faculty/

Now, here’s our agenda for the first week:

  1. Watch the Introduction to Our Course video.
  2. I want to emphasize: watch the video above, where I go into details on how to sign up for the BMCC OpenLab, and how to add yourself to our course website on the OpenLab. Here is the link to the document showing how to sign up to the OpenLab, but you must watch the video where I go through a step-by-step explanation on how to sign up to the site: Getting Started
  3. Read the information contained in the pages contained under the Course Materials & Schedule page heading. This includes the following information: Course Guide and Schedule, Info about the professor, Course Policies, the Syllabus, an overview of Online Discussion Board Guidelines, and information on Grading Rubrics).
  4. Complete Module 1
