Game Scenery

The game will take place at the night, where you will hunt down and slay monsters and traverse across a range of enemies.

Moon: I added a moon to help show that its late.

Stars: Also added to give a sense of fear and quietness.

Tallgrass: Enemies will be hidden amongst the tall grass, where you will be traversing.

Fog: Lots of fog will around to make it even more of a freighting game.

Sky: I added the sky to resemble a dark and scary night in the middle of the woods.

My First Level

Since my first level, I have made a strange level, it has colors layers and platforms. It is a dark-theme level.

Clouds: This clouds painted dark green and dark purple, which represents the dark day without sun.

Floor: That floor shapes squares and represents the disco dance floor in the dark-theme level.

Sky: That background is dark because it represents the night level and it seems very clearly in the sky.

Trees: There are three trees on that level. Those trees are dark because it is a night level. Also, those floating platforms are dark too.

Platforms and Scenery

This is a adventure/action game involving hunting monsters so I figured to make a scene that takes place outdoors.

Trees: I added a tree to let the player know it will take place in a field/forest.

Grass: Soma will be mostly outdoors looking for monsters to hunt so its only natural to add some grass to the scene.

Clouds: I added clouds to add some realism to the scene.

Sky: I added light blue to the background to resemble the sky.

Scenery or Platforms

Since this game have a theme of adventure/platformer, there will be areas that resembles of a forest.

Grass: It’s natural to have grass in the area to give the identity of a forest.

Dirt with a dead face in it: The dead face in the grass gives off a sense of danger and urgency in the adventure the player will be apart of.

Clouds: Supplement the background to give it a bit of life in the area.

House: Is the home of the player and can be serve as a relief of the player. It’s there as a saving point.

Scenery and Platforms

Since my character is based on the wendigo, a mythical forest monster, it made sense to go for a more horror themed platformer.

Trees:

It’s only natural for forests to have trees. These trees are not only decorative but have branches that serve as platforms as well. I’ve only used one type of tree in this demonstration but for my full game I would like to incorporate a variety of tree shapes with different platforms.

Floating Rocks:

These floating rocks would serve as moving platforms. Players will have to climb trees in order to reach them. These harder to reach places is where I would place any treasures or items.

Clouds:

The clouds are just a simple addition to the background and I made them purple to make them look more dark and unsettling.

Moon:

I added the moon to the background to make it clear that it is night time which adds to the dark tone of the scene.

Setting and Genre in Final Fantasy X

Final Fantasy X is a fantasy game with amazing world building that anyone can infer its genre from just a quick look at some of its set pieces, character design, and world design.

Above is an image of the stadium the in game citizens inhabiting the world use to play a fantasy game called blitzball. Essentially it’s fictional soccer but underwater. You can see that the stadium is floating above the ocean and the sphere of water is where the sport actually takes place. You can tell the genre of where it’s set quickly from looking at it.

Here’s another picture from a forest area in the game. It is beautifully designed and you can quickly tell its fantasy from the unrealistic aspects of this scenery. There is a kaleidoscope colored tree sitting on top of a lake here.

Lastly, here’s a photo of a major city in the game. It has unusual architecture for it to have been designed with the modern world in mind, and looks distinctly new and fantasy. There is a water bridge in the background too which by all means is impossible to occur in real life. All these elements tell you the genre of the setting.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege: genre and setting

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a first-person shooter game,in the game, players can choose different special agents for the role and each character has different equipment, and you can put different small configurations on top of the guns, and each agent has a unique skill.

These are the cadres that the attacking currently has
These are the cadres that the defense currently has
This is the modification of the weapon is also my current favorite weapon

The objective of the game is that the attacking side must attack the destination and achieve the conditions, while the defending side must prevent the attacking side from achieving the victory conditions. The attacking side can destroy walls and also rope drop on the outside of the building, and these destructible surfaces can be used by the defending side to sneak in and take advantage of. The weapons in the game can injure teammates, and the character cannot be revived after death until the next turn.

This game has many modes of play such as bomb mode, hostage mode, Tactical Realism, Terrorist Hunt, Situations, and sometimes some fun entertainment mode

Disrupting the system

The game’s destruction system is one of its main features, the game’s fragile materials (such as wood, glass, etc.) composed of the surface can be destroyed, including walls, ceilings and floors. These materials can also be destroyed with gunshots or melee attacks in addition to explosives, and special explosives are required to break through walls if they are reinforced.

Grounded: Setting

Grounded is an open-world survival game being developed by Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox Game Studio. The game is still in it’s early access development stage and is only available on Windows 10 and Xbox One at this moment. The player must survive as a shrunken human in a bug infested garden, while monitoring their hunger and thirst.

Garden Setting – Telescope
Garden Setting -Lilypond (Juice box can provide a “water source”)

Grounded uses beautiful scenery to bring the garden to life making the player want to explore it even more. Throughout the garden, the player will explore and find large scaled items and trinkets which can not only help with navigating the terrain but can sometimes also provide a usefulness to the player. (Juice boxes and soda cans can provide a small amount of fluids to keep the player hydrated.)

Garden Setting – Oak Tree (Bee towards the top left)
Garden Setting – Spider fight while trying to collect Grass (I ran away lol)
Crafting Menu – Basic Tools

A large part of the game focuses on exploring the beauty of the garden and it’s setting. This can’t be done without first learning how to craft basic tools for necessary survival and also learning how to focus on keeping your players thirst and hunger meters full.

After the player has learned basic survival, they can explore the garden and terrain to find more learnable things. This also includes trying to survive against insects like solider ants, bees, mosquito’s and horrifying spiders.
