User Testing Results for Soma

Here are the results of my user testing survey.

All users were able to figure out how to play the game.
The game appears to be on the easy to somewhat easy side of things.
Most people were able to play in under 10 minutes which shows that I should make the level more longer or harder.
Ideally all players should be able to finish the game but it wasn’t challenging enough or they weren’t able to pass certain obstacles.

Three things I’m going to work on is making it more challenging, fix some bugs and change the obstacles around.

Platforms and Scenery

This is a adventure/action game involving hunting monsters so I figured to make a scene that takes place outdoors.

Trees: I added a tree to let the player know it will take place in a field/forest.

Grass: Soma will be mostly outdoors looking for monsters to hunt so its only natural to add some grass to the scene.

Clouds: I added clouds to add some realism to the scene.

Sky: I added light blue to the background to resemble the sky.

Dead by Daylight: Setting and Genre

The recent game I played is Dead by Daylight. It is an asymmetric survival horror video game developed by Behavior Interactive released in 2016.
Narrative: You either play as a killer or survivor in a randomly generated map. This is a multiplayer game so you can play with friends or random people.
Puzzle: As a Survivor, you have to work together with three other survivors to fix generators and open gates to escape. You can also find items in chest such as a medkit, flashlight, toolbox, hatch key or map. As a killer, you have to hack them all down and find hooks to hang their bodies until they get killed by the Entity shown above. You also can damage generators to put their repair progression back to 0.
Exploration: Dead by Daylight’s setting is a purgatory. There are several realms even ones from horror movies like The Saw or Silent Hill. You can be in the open like in a forest or field and/or in a building with up to three floors.

Goals, Obstacles, Rewards in Overwatch

The game I played recently is Overwatch on the PS5. It is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter game that came out in 2016.

The goals of each match is determined by whichever map you’re playing. For example, in this screenshot, this map is called Hollywood which is an Hybrid map. The goal is for the attackers to capture the payload and escort it to the destination before the time is up. The defending team has to stop the payload getting to the destination until the time is up.
The obstacle in this game is to fight against another team and stop them from attacking/defending. In this screenshot, I’m playing a Control map and I had to defeat all the enemies at point to capture it.
The rewards are gaining XP to level up. Also medals (Gold, Silver and Bronze) are given to the top three best-performing members of a team and they are given based on the categories on the final scoreboard: Eliminations, Objective Kills, Objective Time, Damage Done, Healing Done.
