My Self Portrait

Rock Band with Cat and Dog

Spring 2024

Photoshop

For my self portrait, I wanted to use a rock show setting, since rock is my favorite music genre, but I wanted to also show cats and dogs since they are very cute and funny. I used posterize and a gradient map to get the cool retro look on the photo. I also use various masking settings like feather as well as level adjustments on the animals to make them fit more in with the vibe.

Weird Blue Shape Alien

Spring 2024

Illustrator

I used illustrator to make a weird looking Blue Alien using shapes, pens, and gradients. I used the circles to make the hair, and rectangles to make the eyes. I used the pen to make the weird moustache as well as the moute. I then used gradient as well as shape builder to make a crescent moon object on the top left. To make everything cooler, I made the background, letters, and crescent a gradient fill between orange and purple!

Photoshop

For my self-portrait I wanted to add myself to a historical picture. Might be a grim moment in history but in my searches it looked like one I could blend myself into the crowd. I’m also from Dallas. I cropped my head small enough and then flipped it to match the light better, I then added noise to my dog and I to match our surroundings better. This is my first time using Photoshop, and it was a little difficult, but I also am not the most tech savvy person.

I used my dog as my muse yet again. Though it might look like a humanoid dog thing with yellow hot dogs. I used shape builder and text and many other things. I tried to use gradient filter but I couldn’t get it to work. Some feature were tough for me, but I did what I could. Mia likes it and that’s all that matters.

My Self Portrait Spring 2024

This is my new self portrait with an image that had a Creative Commons license. Luke the dog sliding safely into home plate. I used noise to kind of blend the layers together a bit, I was able to brush the sliding player on the original image out of the photo completely by using the appropriate surrounding colors. I posterized the photo and then inverted it and added a New York Mets color scheme.

My Adobe Illustrator Self Portrait. I wanted to try my hand at digitally recreating a picture I drew with colored pencils a few years ago. I enjoy going out in the city and seeing live music. Also wanted to add a title to the piece. I used two layers, the first one was for the buildings and the sidewalk, the second was for everything else. I mainly used the brush tool for everything except the border in which i used to rectangle tool. I meant to make the building on the left seem like it was laughing and the building on the right seem a little more sad.

Self portrait progress

I changed a lot about the vase photo and focused on editing the borders from each image. I also created an AI portrait which I’m pretty happy with

Time Traveling Couple

Spring 2024

Photoshop

For my self-portrait, I used a picture of me and my girlfriend an old picture of Austin, Texas in the 1930’s to give a unique background to my time traveling concept. As for the the picture of me and my girlfriend I chose us because I plan to eventually move to Texas with her, and we both have a love for vintage things and old music. Professor Owens gave me the great idea of adding a noise gradient on top of the photoshopped image of me and my girlfriend to make it fit in more with the image. I also decided to add the poster edges filter to it cause I felt it made the whole picture look like a vintage portrait.

Drifter

Spring 2024

Illustrator

I used Illustrator to create my “Drifter” logo that I think represents me. The tools I used were the pen tool, gradient, shape builder, and the brush tool.

The Hikers

Spring 2024

Photoshop

For my self-portrait, I used an exhibit from the Denver Museum that shows someone pointing at the hikers. I used a gradient map, noise filter, and custom shape tool to achieve this look.
I choose this image because it represents me. I am an Educator for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and love talking about the functions of the body

Luna

Spring 2024

Illustrator

For my logo, I used Illustrator, featuring multiple shapes combined using Path Finder, Blend tool to create the rays, Gradient map for the background, and edited text to make it look a bit different from the original font. My inspiration was the cat from sailor moon, “Luna”. While doing this vector, I struggled a bit getting the blend tool to do what I wanted it to do, but I managed.

Theatre Cat in the Age
Spring 2024
Photoshop

As my profile picture, I combined what I love with my cat, adding filters to give the image a vintage and storytelling feel. The most challenging part of the project was that I easily forgot to duplicate the layer. Thus, when I made a mistake, I had to start over because I couldn’t use the original duplicate layer. My solution was to take slow, step-by-step work on it, ensuring that I wouldn’t forget to duplicate the layer. This assured me that I could keep working on it without wasting time.

Spring 2024
Illustrator

This is my first time using Illustrator to create an image. I added a grain effect for the background and used the shape builder tool for the text. The most challenging part of the project was not being accustomed to using Illustrator for image creation. However, I believe that with more practice, I will improve.

LIFE

Spring 2024

Photoshop

For this project I combined three images that represent me. One of a country scene, the second was an image of a city skyline, and the third is an image I drew. It’s about the country where I grew up and the city where I live today. The duck is a mallard who is known for adapting to its surroundings and I’ve always thought of myself like that. The most challenging part of the project was working to mask off the certain parts of the image and making it look seamless.

Here I used the rectangle and ellipse tools to create the entire image. I also added text with a Lower Arc using the warp tool. I noticed that while doing this project it was hard to try not to do something realistic.

Self Portrait Progress

I took your advice professor and added the noise gradient to my photoshop portrait. As for my illustrator portrait I chose to make a motorcycle helmet because they’re cool and mysterious looking.

Disability and Ability

Spring 2024

Photoshop

For my Self-Portrait project I brought together two people with different abilities, one is disabled and advanced in age and the other is a young person with the ability to walk. My idea was to demonstrate two seasons of life in which many people enter, at one moment they are very capable of doing certain things but suddenly they can lose certain things. So, let’s take advantage of what we have!
Use some filters in Photoshop, different colors to mix the characters and a noise effect
