My animation: Happiness

Title: Happiness

Spring 2024

Software: Adobe After Effects

I chose happiness because in a world that we live in it is important to try and gain happiness from the things in our day to day life and the things we take for granted such as seeing a new day with bright skies. for my project I mostly used elipses because they were the basic need for all the components i used. The most challenging part was learning how to make a smile which is kind of ironic.

My animation:(S)pain

Title: (S)pain

spring 2024

For my project, I used Spain and Pain as my theme. I mainly used rectangles and circles. I used S and PAIN for the text separately. I used position to move the S away and only PAIN was left. For the smiley face, I used rotation to twist the mouth 180 degrees to turn the smiley face into a sad face.

My Animation: Fear

Title: Fear

Spring 2024

Software: Adobe After Effects

I chose to animate something about fear.I came up with this animation since I thought about what do people feel when they see blood. I though of fear as the first emotion. I did something like a scary bloody title.

My Animation: Scared

Title: Scared

Semester/Year: Spring 2024

Software: Adobe After Effects

I chose to animate the emotion Scared. I started with a circle that represents someone’s body when they are scared. It shakes and trembles and moves all around in fear. I used another two circles to represent eyes. Our eyes say a lot when we are scared, they dilate or grow and reflect how scared we are. I also used a rectangle to show a mouth. This mouth changes from rectangle to circle because we often gasp or scream in fear. Our mouths also tremble or quiver in fear. I chose the colors red and orange and black because they represent halloween in a sense, and that’s when people are often times drawn to more scary stuff. The pacing is pretty even, but you’ll see the animation get quicker as the circle gets more scared. The hardest part was managing all the animations when they’re all open. Like you mentioned in the video, the tab is so small and gets crowded easily. It’s funny if you catch what the circle was scared of in the end (hint: it’s midterms).

My Animation: Excitement

Title: Excitement

Semester/Year: Spring 2024

Software: Adobe After Effects

The emotion I animate is excitement, I use elasticity to present it thus the shape I choose is a circle. I made the pacing quick to convey excitement. The project’s most challenging part is making the circle activation feel smooth and natural. And the way I solve it is to spend the time to do it, the one and only way to do it when you learn something new.

My Animation Project

Title: Kindness

Semester/year: Spring 2024

Software: Adobe After Effects

(and Abobe illustrator for storyboard)

Description: The emotion I decided for this is “kindness”. I think I chose this emotion because that’s the first thing that came in my mind and I always want to resonate myself and my work with positive emotions. I used the shades of the color pink because that’s my favorite color and I used polygons and stars as shapes. The challenging part, I believe, was using the software because I’ve never used that before but after watching some YouTube videos, I got a good hang of it.

Animation Emotion and Text

Title: Home Run Excitement!

Semester: Spring 2024

Software: Adobe After Effects

I chose to use the emotion of excitement while creating an animation of a home run being hit. I tried to choose as many colors as I could for the stars at the end but wanted to make sure the main focus was the blue background and the orange baseball bat. I approached the pacing by working to make sure the placement key frames for both shape layers were moving at the same time; it was difficult to figure out how to be organized at first but once I was able to get a hang of keeping the work station organized it was smooth sailing after that. Having two separate shape layers for the ball and the bat made it much easier to sync up the keyframes for movement. I had a lot of fun working on this project and have a new found appreciation for animation.

My Animation: Happiness / Excitement

Title: Blooming excitement

Spring 2024

Since flowers and bright objects are correlated to happiness and excitement, I made a cute bouncy animation of one becoming bigger and happier. I wanted to add shape layers but my adobe crashes every time I used them. So I had to draw the frames myself. This was a fun process, but the hardest part of it was working with graphs, I wasn’t sure what I was doing at times.
