TITLE: What Goes On Out There?
BY: Mike Maier
SEMESTER/YEAR: Spring 2024
SOFTWARE: Audacity
For this project I used all original media and sounds. For the song that plays throughout the project I recorded myself playing drums, guitar, and bass in GarageBand and used the master recording as the music in Audacity. Some of the sounds I used were sounds I hear outside of my apartment everyday. The first sound is that of a ConEd tow truck towing a car that was in the way of a manhole cover that needed emergency work. The second sound is of the birds chirping outside my bathroom window with the faint sound of a helicopter in the distance. The third sound was my dog Sheena barking at me, and the last sound is the F train pulling into the Carroll Street station.
My main objective with the project was to automate the volume of the song in such a way to make it lower when each sound played so the sound was front and center while still being able to hear the music.
All songs and sounds were recorded by me.
Credit goes to me for the song, Sheena for the barks, ConEd for the tow truck sound, the birds and the helicopter, and the MTA for the sound of the F train.
