my story is a spin on a classic fairy tale with someone in a castle and a knight to save them.the user should type in the information and it should be incorporated in a story that makes sense. i chose for the user to type in their answers because i think like the story feels more authentic and genuine that way. the most challenging part was the typos and errors, i couldn’t fully understand what was wrong at times but going through the code slowly and carefully looking for typos.

Elyas’ Clumsy MadLibs

Software: HTML, CSS, Javascript, Replit.com

For this project, my schedule felt much more tight from the slow production and motivation for completing the story. I wanted to make this parody of madlibs, by giving it the purpose of jabbing at the audience’s decisions and opinions that make up one’s personality. I wanted to make fun of the audience, and make them a Mr. Bean character of humor.

Animated words and emotions

Title: Untitled 2023

Semester/Year: Fall 2023

Program Used: After Effects

I wanted to use something simple, while experimenting with the software. Playing w/ masks to create animations with the text, but still animating it so that it doesn’t feel robotic. The most interesting part was probably experimenting w/ keyframes and easy ease to get different results…

Audio Portrait

This project made use of a little over 10 audio files, most of which are my own and slightly edited for effect. The direction I chose with this is teenage nostalgia typically shared by those who grew up with video games. Coming home from a long day to nice escape with your friends. I tried using very familiar sounds and music to evoke nostalgia.

Self Portrait

Title: I see you (Self Portrait)

Semester/Year: Fall 2023

Program Used: Illustrator

I wanted to use something simple, and cool but also somewhat personal. I used stippling rather than gradients for some shadows, I felt that it gave it some texture which I found attractive then the sharpness vectors gave off. I created most of the stippling using Image Trace, but everything else were just shapes. My inspiration came from some of my favorite characters growing up, their attitudes edged on cynicism, seeing the world like a passive observer.

Title: (Head in the clouds) Self Portrait Collage

Semester/Year: Fall 2023

Program Used: Photoshop

This work was a collage, I used masking to try to give the illusion of depth and make the subject seem natural in the environment. Most of the inspiration was from using themes prevalent in hip hop culture and reimagining it in an ironic way. Although the theme I was going for was somewhat encompassed in the work I feel like the black and whiteness gave it a subdued feeling which felt right in this composition.

As I was coding this I had a really hard time getting the submit button to work, Im the type of person who makes a lot of spelling mistakes as I’m typing and I don’t look back to see if its correct. If I can read it then its ok to me, I soon found a lot of mistakes but im happy everything works

This is a Mad Libs story about a place, object, and person. The story varies depending on what the user inputs. I tried to use the same inputs multiple times in the story. I struggled with finding typos and whatnot since I had to write more lines of code than I am used to. I added a survey/dropdown thing at the end but I wish I could have figured out how to ask the question after the viewer already read the story they made. It could have also been cool to figure out a way to get the program to detect if the word inputted started with a vowel sound, but this would be too difficult (words like unicorn and honest would be especially annoying since you’d have to say “a unicorn” and “an honest”) plus replit was telling me I was already running out of RAM which was surprising.

my game is about either elliot or sara, whomever you choose, having a normal day at school that takes a weird turn. there are two endings total (a good and a bad ending) and there is also an option you can choose that leads to a mysterious story event that leaves you with questions! enjoy playing!
