“Surprised!!!”

When I was creating this project I was thinking what emotion would stand out the most. So I picked the emotion that literally jumps out at you. This emotion is something that when you feel you know it’s there. Surprised is something you can’t help but to show so I wanted to capture the essence of that. But overall that was my thinking process when creating this short animation.

Description:
I picked a familiar place such as Far Rockaway because it holds a big part of my heart. This is the place I grew up. I watched as they slowly built more and more houses. I watched as they made the boardwalk across the whole Far Rockaway. I have so many memories that I cherish from here. So to sum it up Far Rockaway is somewhere I won’t forget about. After all it is my home.

The reason why I created this was because my profile name of playstation references waves and these color palettes always intrigued me. The contrast between cold and warm colors is something I’m fond of. I used the pen tool for all of it plus gradient work.

I always been inspired by Kentaro Miura work especially his Manga Berserk. To create this used a series of fan art mixed with actual panels from the manga. My first thought was I needed the most impactful part of the manga series so I picked the eclipse which was the turning point of the manga. From there I wanted to foreshadow the events to come. So that’s why I started adding the manga panels and the fan art in the background. I had to remove the bottom of the front image from the background so I could place the other images in the background but not be seen through the water and Griffith in the front. I used different Swatches, Gradients, and Opacities to get the feel of the background is the future to come.
