For my final I wanted to create a romance themed visual novel. I have always enjoyed the format of visual novel games such as Danganronpa, Cookie Runs: Romance Kingdom and Doki Doki Literature Club. With help and guidance I was able to include choices, audio and characters. I used Photoshop to resize the background images as well as Audacity to edit and choose and pick which sounds I want to incorporate into my story. I used Procreate to draw each character and edit them to create different emotions for each screen in order to mimic the aesthetic of visual novels.

“LETS GET ICE CREAM !” is a romance themed visual novel where you as the protagonist get asked to get ice cream by multiple characters in the story. Based on your interactions with each character it is up to you to choose who you wish to go with. I mimicked character tropes such as the social best friend character, wholesome shy character, popular bubbly character and finally the tsundere character. I created multiple HTML pages in order to leave the player to play and enjoy whatever they choose. ENJOY!

Mad Libs

I used Replit to tell a story of a character finding an article of clothing. The information input will determine the qualities of the item as well as the price. I struggled with making my ideas into a Mad Libs and in the end had to simplify the story a bit. I’m just glad everything works!

My choose your own adventure story is about a magical world of creatures such as the glittering fairies, green goblins and a blue dragon. Your objective is to save the glittering fairy people. There are three different endings two good and one bad. Will you heroically save the glittering fairy kingdom from the blue dragon?

Fear Animation

Title: Fear

For this project I wanted to tell a story with fear. It took me a while to get used to After Effects as this is my first time using it but eventually I got there. I used the many transformations to tell a story of the small red rectangle being frightened and fearful of the bigger green rectangle. I used position, scale and opacity to convey fear as well as changing the color of the solid background.

Portrait of NYC Ferry

Description:

I recorded my latest journey to Astoria on the NYC Ferry. With my boyfriends help I recorded the sound of the water, entering the ferry, the sounds on the ferry and exiting the ferry. I added in a track called “The Sunset Girl” that I think fit the vibe perfectly. I cut and pasted and edited a lot of audio out as well as fading in and out and adjusting the volume. I genuinely enjoyed recording the sounds for this project and putting it all together so I hope you enjoy listening.

Self Portrait

For my self-portrait I found an image of the Lower East Side because that’s where I’m from. I then masked and used smart filters to add elements that represent me. Such as a stack of books because I like to read, a bucket of yarn because I enjoy crocheting and finally Twilight Sparkle because she’s My Little Pony which is one of my favorite shows.

Illustrator Vector Self Portrait

I created a Muppet inspired version of myself using the shape and pen tool. I created a gradient background to have a theme of happy bright colors that I enjoy looking at. I also tried really hard to make it look like she’s happy to make her less scary. I really liked the Muppets as a kid and even still to this day as well as the Sesame Street characters. However I would say that Jim Henson himself inspired my take on this project. I find his work fascinating.
