During my time in college I’ve changed my degree path a couple of times before I settled on where I am now. Each time I was full of anticipation for what’ll be in store, each time I was disappointed for one reason or another. So, to show the anticipation and the meandering melancholy I felt all those times I created this page, it’s very similar to the DVD screensaver you probably used to see as a kid. Remember the anticipation you felt when you thought it’d perfectly hit the corner? That’s how I felt when I switched majors, thinking it’d be perfect but being let down.

I used images from the web to represent each major I chose and the amount of times I switched which was around 4. The images originally came as one whole picture, but I used photoshop to crop them out into each of their own. Then I used CSS to animate it moving across the page. I used it instead of after effects because it’d look cleaner as ‘a part’ of the page instead of an imbedded video. Overall this was “My Direction”.

MMP100 | PROGRAMMING PROJECT STATEMENT

Title: Build-Your-Own story

Semester/Year: Fall/2023

Coding/programming languages:CSS, JS, HTML

Description: I set out to create a simplistic, personalized storytelling experience, where users can weave their own tales by inputting character names, locations, objects, adjectives, and verbs. Drawing inspiration from classic storytelling, I chose these specific inputs to empower users to craft unique narratives while fostering their creativity. Users interact with the program by providing these elements, triggering the dynamic generation of a personalized story. The most challenging part was structuring the JavaScript functions to seamlessly incorporate user inputs into a cohesive narrative, which required careful string manipulation and HTML element handling. Through meticulous coding and testing, I successfully crafted a fluid storytelling experience adaptable to diverse user inputs.

Animated words and emotions

Title: Untitled 2023

Semester/Year: Fall 2023

Program Used: After Effects

I wanted to use something simple, while experimenting with the software. Playing w/ masks to create animations with the text, but still animating it so that it doesn’t feel robotic. The most interesting part was probably experimenting w/ keyframes and easy ease to get different results…

Audio Portrait

This project made use of a little over 10 audio files, most of which are my own and slightly edited for effect. The direction I chose with this is teenage nostalgia typically shared by those who grew up with video games. Coming home from a long day to nice escape with your friends. I tried using very familiar sounds and music to evoke nostalgia.

Self Portrait

Title: I see you (Self Portrait)

Semester/Year: Fall 2023

Program Used: Illustrator

I wanted to use something simple, and cool but also somewhat personal. I used stippling rather than gradients for some shadows, I felt that it gave it some texture which I found attractive then the sharpness vectors gave off. I created most of the stippling using Image Trace, but everything else were just shapes. My inspiration came from some of my favorite characters growing up, their attitudes edged on cynicism, seeing the world like a passive observer.

Title: (Head in the clouds) Self Portrait Collage

Semester/Year: Fall 2023

Program Used: Photoshop

This work was a collage, I used masking to try to give the illusion of depth and make the subject seem natural in the environment. Most of the inspiration was from using themes prevalent in hip hop culture and reimagining it in an ironic way. Although the theme I was going for was somewhat encompassed in the work I feel like the black and whiteness gave it a subdued feeling which felt right in this composition.
