Title: Self Portrait (Multiverse of the Mind)

Semester/Year: Fall 2023

Software: Photoshop

For my Self Portrait, I started with an image of a galaxy since I’ve always found stars and galaxies to be fascinating and a joy to watch, but being in a city makes it nearly impossible to see the night sky in all it’s glory. The bridge was added since I thought it would be an interesting concept of a character walking amongst galaxies and portals. Since I couldn’t find an image of a portal to fit my idea, all the portals are drawn with the brush tool in Photoshop and warped with the smudge tool to get the blurred and spiraled effect. The silhouette of the character walking on the bridge is my persona which I drew along with the portals, my persona is basically an entity that can create different worlds when they create a new story, hence the hand glowing as they walk. This piece is basically meant to represent my creative side since the different portals lead to different “universes” which tell a story of different characters in each one. All this was put together using compositing and drawing techniques in Photoshop to make sure everything was as well combined as my current skills allow me.
