What is Graphic Design: Response

In the video, Quentin Newark had a perfectly concise reply to the given question. He stated, “Graphic Design is communication and it communicates through the combination of image and words”. Communication is as bare-bones a definition of design as you are going to get. I think this definition operates well. If a design fails to communicate as intended, it no longer seems designed.

  1. I agree that “if a design fails to communicate as intended, it no longer seems designed” because design is all about functionality. I think that is what Neville Brody was talking about with the designer’s “responsibility to the people that have to live with the communication” and design. If it doesn’t bring the user the intended information, ease or pleasure then what it is it purpose?
