I am going to choose Tom and Jerry because Tom and Jerry was the first animated film that I’ve ever watched, and I’m sure most of us were too. The movements of each character are very smooth and interesting, also the expressions are very lively. I believe it’s the best animated film ever. I would search on information about the author and the methods he used and his techniques.

(Yisheng Wang)I believe that Comic was an inseparable part of America’s former culture, and Comic tend to be familiar among people which made of Comic into animated movies allows filmmakers to incorporate in comic, they can also capitalize on audiences who already familiar with the characters and stories, making it easier to capture their attention. Fans would also be interested in seeing their favorite characters moving on screen.

Cave painting and Shadow Puppetry both are cultures that has been remained for a long period of time, and they both have contributed human’s understanding of the past, which is giving a link between the art of present and the past. The differences between them is that the cave painting are statics, they’re painted on the wall of the caves and describes the scene of pre-historic people. Shadow Puppetry are animated and moving, it have been passed down and still been performed in modern times.

Yisheng Wang – Prompt 2

My favorite animated film is The Garden of Words. It is a Japanese animated film directed by Makoto Shinkai. He described an emotional and heartwarming story by using a lot of techniques of animation expression, such as adding something in the background but in front of the characters like a branch between them to express the separation, and using the difference distance between characters at each time to represent their feelings that are changing and etc.

Hi my name is Yisheng, I picked this course because I enjoy watching and drawing anime stuffs. I’m looking to improve my understanding on animation in order to improve on my drawing skills in the future. I am majoring in Animation and Motion Graphics, I’m planning to learn 2D drawing and 3D modeling this year and become a freelance illustrator, an animator or a 3D modeler. I’d like to recommend my favorite animator/illustrator: Yoneyama Mai.
