Work from the UPA studio was noted for its use of color, abstract patterns, stylized drawing and limited movement. Watch “Rooty Tooty Toot” in it’s entirety. Describe how it uses color, patterns, drawing and movement. Do you think it is effective and tells the story using these means? Why?

Summary

The colors and backgrounds are all abstract. Many different shapes and sizes. The characters are all funny shaped in "Rooty Toot Toot". Some of them have really big noses and other have funny shaped bodies. The short definitely attracts more to a mature audience. I feel there is some sex appeal from the women in the short. I'm not sure how it was in the 1950's to show this to children. I feel like every era cartoons change and they always attract different audiences. The characters have fast movement. It is limited but you can see how they move pretty fast throughout the short. Overall, all these details definitely help tell the story. The backgrounds change throughout. From the court setting to the city setting. I thought it was a funny short. The characters all have goofy personalities. At the end, the girl Frankie ends up getting free to only end up shooting the "husband", which I thought was a great way to finish the short.
