  1. The full-length feature film I will focus on is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).
  2. I am drawn to this film because it is the first feature-length film that Disney produced. I was also intrigued by the use of different animation techniques.

I think so many early animated films were based on print comics mainly because of popularity and familiarity. Comics, during that time, were top-rated in the US. And with the content contained in the comics, using them as a basis for an animated film would be an obvious choice. It’s a guaranteed success due to the fanbases that comics have curated.

Journal Entry - Week 1

Hello! My name is Melania. I chose this course because I have a great interest in art and animation and I would be able to fulfill my credits while doing something I enjoy. I am currently interested in mixed media style animations, cel animation, and more modern styles. Some examples of works I like are Arcane, Into the Spiderverse, and Princess Mononoke. I’m majoring in Science in health. My current goal is to successfully get through this semester with good grades. A few fun facts about me are that I have a dog named Tobi, I paint regularly, I collect different kinds of manga (currently trying to get all of the Nana volumes), and I love studying different types of flowers.
