The film i’ll be talking about in my paper will be “The Lion King” directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff in 1944.Honestly what drew me to this film was the backstory to it.A young lion growing up through trials and tribulations had watched his dad die , and left home. Then he went back to his home and regained control his father once had.

Elements I will be talking about are my personal reflection on “The Lion King” and how it was created. How the animations were put into the film. How could the film markers have elevated the film.

In the film “Rooty Tooty Toot ” it had simple shapes, movements, colors and patterns. The movements of the characters were simple you could understand what was happening in the film, as well as.I realized that the people in the stand had bodies that were shapes. It had a bunch of abstract mostly in the background and certain patterns that brought out interest to the film and made it appealing to me.I do think it is effective and tells the story because without things like the abstract in the background it would make the film a visual interest for anyone.

The film “The Hand” was seen subversive by the government because it was going aganist them. The message of the film portrayed that no matter what you do or how you try and get away from the “hand” you wont. This was what Jiri Trnka was trying to show people but the government didn’t want them to know this.Due to the fact that if they knew this they might be more open mind and would go against them.So The Czech Government did not approve of it.It would’ve gained alot of exposure and the communism would of been disapproved by people.

In Winsor McCay’s “Gertie the Dinosaur” and Emile Cohl’s “Fantasmagorie” these two styles of animation had difference and similarities.A Similarity were it was silence animation ,there were no noise. There were many differences in their approach one was the type of drawings that were made when doing these animation. In Emile Cohl’s he drew his drawings on a lightbox, photographed it in two then traced the drawing with adjustment, were Winsor McCay he learned techniques such as using registration marks and identifying key position. The lines are used different because Colh was actually drawing the imagines one by one then adjusted.McCay he used cel animation.”Gertie the Dinosaur” had more complex background and “Fantasmagorie” didnt it was less complex.

If i was in audience in a Gaspard Robertson’s “Fantasmagorie” show in 1797 I would’ve been weirded out and scared at the same time.In the period of 1797 a bunch of things were happening.Such as the wake of the bloody Reign of Terror trailed a fascination with death and the macabre. My reaction to it would’ve been mind blown and entertained because of the illusions of the resurrected dead he speculated.A form of entertainment that would elicit the same emotions would be horror films or series, as well as supernatural films. They would give the same scary and terrifying emotions.
