My name is Erick Pena, I picked this course because I’m a complete history nerd regardless of the topic. As an animation and motion graphics major, I’ve already watched a ton of history-of-animation type of videos, but I still want to see new content or even re-learn old content just because it’s so intriguing to hear how our ancestors lived, how technology has progressed, and how they accomplished so much, with so little to work with. I am very intrigued to learn about how older shows like Tom and Jerry were animated, Gertie the Dinosaur, and Popeye were animated, since I grew up watching those shows, and it was a pleasant surprise to hear that even my grandparents knew them. I’m also very intrigued to learn more about how modern Japanese anime are animated, 80’s-90’s anime too, and to keep it simple, I want to know everything you can teach me. I hope this post isn’t too long, but anyway, I plan to eventually own my own studio and produce my own animations, and maybe even others’ animations as well. I also plan to work at another animation studio as an employee to gain experience and build connections. Fun facts about me, I’m re-learning how to draw again, watch soap operas and dramas more than I’d admit, I enjoy a good session of DND, and I’m also trying to get into video games as an adult. I hope I don’t sound too pretentious or annoying though haha.

My name is Seven Dickens, and my major is Computer Science. I chose this course for a couple of reasons. 1: I’m interested in learning programming, mostly for game development purposes, but I’d like something practical. And 2: I was previously majoring in Animation & Motion Graphics, but it was burning me out from my own personal stuff, so I figured learning on my own was the better call for now.
I’ve been really interested in eastern animation ever since middle school I’m pretty sure, and I’ve had a recent strong interest in 3d thanks to Spiderverse in 2018, but I could never sit down and understand how the workflow worked. I’m still not sure about my career goals at the moment, but I’m trying to shoot for something in either animation or programming.
Something about me personally is that I really like to draw. I’m a digital artist and have been for about 5-6 years now. I’ve tried animating for myself a good number of times in the past, but again, I haven’t been doing so well in 3d. I’ve been doing some light practicing for 2d. I also like playing video games, preferably rhythm, action, platforming, and fighting.
A particular animated tv show I like is Vinland Saga, although it is unfinished. I like this show because of the characters more than anything, since I admire the main characters redemption arc. However I also enjoy the animation technique the show uses thoroughly. Vinland Saga’s manga is illustrated by Makoto Yukimura. And the studio that animates it is Wit Studios. The show was made on July 7, 2019.

Hi, my name is Ally. I picked this course because I have a background in animation and thought it would be fun to take while still satisfying credits in world cultures & global issues. I am particularly interested in the more modern era of animation as technology is advancing at such a fast rate. Works like Arcane, Into the Spider-Verse, and Invincible are among my favorites. I am currently majoring in multimedia programming and design. My goals are to graduate by the end of next semester with my associates. Some fun facts about me are I indulge in a lot of creative hobbies. I play guitar, bass, piano, and produce music. I also create digital art and collect comics.
